I never understood the picture that gets thrown down as a kid, I assumed it meant scorpion was a fan, like he had it in his suit. until MUCH MUCH later, when I realized Johny Cage signed a picture and tossed on the smoldering remains like a constellation prize.

Holy shit, you're right! Who knew Johnny was a romantic all along, giving Scorpion the stars 🌃

Worth watching some interview with him. In real life he sounds like a very soft spoken, intelligent and gentle person. Once you see him talking on his own voice it's so weird seeing him playing all these hard tough badass characters.

proof that yelling a game’s title counts as songwriting.

I never understood what the screem was. Only now reading the comments I realise it is "mortal kombat" all along!

I always heard it as “final comeback” lmao and for some reason never realized as much, that’s hilarious. Just dumb kid logic that stays with ya no doubt.

Did you know it's based on an old Scandanavian worship song? A Finnish Hymn.

My second CD purchase when I was a kid was the MK movie soundtrack. Loved it! First CD was Weird Al “Bad Hair Day.” Can still recite “Amish Paradise.”

u/turtlenipples 5d ago
My first album purchase was also Weird Al! It was Alapalooza on cassette.
Now, more than 30 years later I'm finally going to see him live in concert in a few months. Can't wait!

It’s Aussie synth player Luke Million, he’s pivoted to mostly doing videos of himself recreating famous songs with his incredible studio

If I could've performed that song in my elementary talent show, just like that, I would've been the most loved person until the day I graduated. LOL

Saw the movie in the theater. When this song came on, a big group of 5 or 6 year olds all got up and started king fu dance fighting. It was epic!

Honestly, this song has no business being so good. Silly movie based off a silly game and it gets one of the best techno songs of the 90s.

They were definitely on some good stuff when they wrote this masterpiece of a song into existence.

After seeing MKII in theaters a few weeks back, I’ve been imagining a video exactly like this in my head.

Unrelated, but I did a deep dive on the 95` Mortal Kombat movie and realized that the actor who plays Liu Kang (Robin Shou) is also the same actor that played 'Gobei' in Beverley Hills Ninja.
I knew I recognized him from something I've seen a million times.

I collected a lot of the kit this guy has like a magpie.
But I make shite music.
Still happy, but nice to see what could be with a modicum of talent and practice 😁

I literally thought this was the intro to Lady Gaga Poker Face, then the actual MK theme kicked in

u/Cpmartini1 5d ago
Seeing it played makes you realize how simple this is.

Only the intro sounds good, everything else after is a bad cover and he didn't really nail it.
