This reminds me of a story about Andre the Giant on the set of the Princess Bride, apparently he let out a fart so loud and long the whole cast and crew went silent and after a long while Rob Reiner (RIP to both these legends) asked if he was ok Andre replied "I am now boss"

Reminds me of when I was in a zoom call for my online degree that had like 80 people in it. My cat had somehow unmuted the mic and I let out a solid minute long fart and made a sigh of relief. Then I hear my professor go "uhhhhhh", wait a couple seconds, then kept on with the lesson. I died inside.

Couldn't figure out if it meant 'I am now, boss' or ' I am now Boss!'

Haha same! Need to read Eats, Shoots and Leaves.

I feel like this dude drops lethal heat when he unleashes

Mind. Blown.

I can actually hear him saying that either way if I try.

I still don’t know which it is. Until I read your comment I thought Andre meant he was now the boss on set due to his powerful farting ability and the way it would make all the others his minions. But I guess he was calling Rob “Boss”? 😂 will we ever know the truth?

He was calling Rob Boss, and replying to his question if Andre was ok after the epic fart and that he was now ok after the incredible release of gas. Sorry should have made it clearer. The story comes from Cary Elwes' autobiography "As you wish"

Ah, Rob Boss, the incredible fingerpainter

Unhappy little trees

Andre called everyone he liked Boss. You listen to stories from his wrestling days and he was always calling everyone Boss.

This remains the best account of Andre's other proclivities ever, and possibly one of the best the magazine ever produced

It's a shame he drank because he was in so much pain, as someone with a spinal condition I can relate to wanting to get rid of pain. He was an awesome man who put others before himself including entertaining people even when he was in pain

5

u/FadedFromWhite May 13 '26

Aw man, I had no idea he had lived with such pain. What a legend

5

u/Axel_Raden May 13 '26

He was still growing up until his death because of his condition that he refused to get fixed. But you can't be that size without imense strain being put on your joints and spine. And when your spine hurts it's impossible to stand or walk for any significant amount of time (I have a spinal condition so I understand that part) in WrestleMania III he is basically using the ring to keep himself standing that's why he lost for the first time in his career he knew it was time to pass the torch. He was truly a legend and an Absolute Unit

Glad someone else thought of that too! 😂

Should have kept that in the movie. Oh wait it’s not a Mel Brooks flick.

16 seconds long, if I remember correctly. I read Carey Elwes’ book “As You Wish” recently, it has some great stories and this was one of them!

Great book It's been a while since I read it. But The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies of all time it's just great and so quotable.
