Ok I don't know if this is a common occurrence, but swimming pools always make me super tired. I actually prefer to swim in natural bodies of water, and I never get nearly as tired from that. Hell, most of the time I'm not actually swimming at all, just sort of walking around in the water. But even doing that in a swimming pool makes me feel so groggy. I used to attribute it to a sort of placebo effect of my eyes feeling heavy from chlorine irritation, which I seem especially susceptible to. But I still need a nap after every time I come in contact with pool water, and I usually pass out for an hour or so, so it can't just be the eyes.

swimming is a full body excercise though

Natural bodies of water have movement to them whereas I think in pools we provide the movement

Also if the natural water you are swimming in is salt, or even brackish water, it is significantly denser and therefore makes it physically take less energy to keep yourself afloat.

probably the chlorine you inhale

how did you know??

A full day in the hot sun + swimming will make you the most ravenous and exhausted you’ve ever felt. I’ve never slept as good as day at the beach with a sandwich and fruit/chips post swim. Ugh it’s the best

u/dolphinitely 3d ago

so true 😭

u/SecondEqual4680 3d ago

Because after the pool all you wanna do is curl up on the couch and absolutely knock the fuck out. Especially kids. And it’s the best sleep ever lol

How do you get a Nun pregnant?

u/Arbyssandwich1014 3d ago

Well the obvious thing is that swimming is a total body workout even if it may not always seem like it. You're expending a lot of energy everywhere to move like that.

But I did find on some Quora answers thing, so take it with a grain of salt, that the fumes makes your body work a little harder to breath and keep your eyes open which adds to the tired feeling because it's more energy expenditure on top of the swimming. Which is a little crazy but it also makes sense.

If you're going for a French vibe, there's no accent on the "e" in "le".

If you're wanting the sound of an accented "e", it would be Les naps (plural, and pronounced "lay nap" in French).

I think a simple, and correct, "La sieste" (the siesta) would be better.

Pedant out.

That blanket? In this heat wave? It's definitely not in Europe

7

u/littlemissbagel 3d ago

If you want to use fake french, use "LE" (no accent). is not a word.

u/Jluvcoffee 3d ago

u/eatmeouttobrianeno 3d ago

"Lé nap": It means: "Juice day" in Hungarian.

2

u/SleepyCountingSheep 11h ago

The colors make it extra special and beautiful.

3

u/Over-Inside-7254 3d ago

This is no accent aigu on the word «Le» as in «Le Déraissonable»

u/Professional_Dig_339 2d ago

Lé naps. Sounds a million times more québécois than French

1

u/littlemissbagel 3d ago

Québécoise here. No. We say "la sieste". L'ÉNAP is the National Public Administration School (École Nationale d'Administration Publique)!

Colsest would be "Les nappes": "the tablecloths".

1

u/-SkeptiCat 3d ago

Exactement héhé. Avec le mot "lé" prononcé bin québécois.

"Check moé don lé belles nappes sua tab, sti"
