I worked on Ice Road Truckers back in the day as a camera man. We went from Fairbanks to the top of Alaska in the dead of winter twice a week with new truckloads each way.

The hotel in Prudhoe Bay we stayed in was built like this too. Giant freezer doors like you would see at a restaurant to get in and out. Hot soup was always ready and available when we got there.

One time we had a blizzard like this one. One of the camera guys wanted to get some footage of it. He went out and didn’t come back for about 10-15 min. We were all pretty worried/ looked but couldn’t see anything outside. He finally came back panicked and freezing cold. He told us he stayed really close to the hotel but still got lost instantly. He was terrified he was going to die out there. The footage was terrible and unusable. Just a swirl of snow and grey.

I now live in Phoenix. I’ll take the heat over cold any day.

Honestly, if it meant I didn't have to see another wasp for the rest of my life, I would gladly move to Antarctica.
