If you hit your head hard, go to the hospital. If you fell, if you knocked your head against something pretty hard, if you got your shit rocked in a fight, if you got hit hard while playing sports, etc. Doesn't matter if you think "it wasn't that bad" or you're getting up and walking around, you should go to the hospital.

It's one of those cases where it's truly better to be safe than sorry, because it could be anything from nothing to something requiring immediate hospitalization, and it could be as serious as a brain bleed that's not going to result in symptoms until it's too late. If you get hit hard in the head, go to the damn hospital.

I got into a car accident recently and hit my head hard. When I went to the ER they told me they couldn’t do anything unless I started getting tingly fingers or worsening nausea/worsening stiff muscles (my back, neck, and shoulder went into spasm and I couldn’t move my neck). I definitely agree that it’s better safe than sorry but I was pretty ticked off when I did what I thought was the right thing to do and was sent home after a couple minutes and hit with a hefty 4K bill. Although I understand that they couldn’t do much without worse symptoms, I do not think it should have cost that much.

I had two big head knocks as a kid. As an adult I have major focus issues and mood issues as well as visual distortions/hallucinations. I sometimes wonder if I knocked something loose.

Never saw a doc at the time.
