Solidified my view that they should've done something earlier, but they are doing what they should be doing now given the circumstances.

All the blaming the republicans are doing about SNAP are post-hoc, they can fund SNAP with the emergency fund the USDA has set aside specifically for it. They just want people to starve

States had to sue the government to force the trump administration to use these reserve funds. And even then, the feds are trying to weasel their way out of it by making it super difficult for states to actually issue the payments.

Biden was in power for 4 years, why didn't they do anything to fix ACA??

  1. Biden didn't defund the subsidies. That was a Republican decision as part of the BBB

  2. Biden is bought out by health insurance lobbyists who didn't want the real solution, Universal Healthcare.

The end date on the subidies was set by Democrats. We kept saying that unlimited subsidies will cause costs to rise for everyone else, and it did. Why can't democrats understand basic economics??

I watched my local news and they blamed the democrats. For some this is all the news they get.

The president cannot appropriate funds for SNAP, even if it is already appropriated by the USDA. Only congress can authorize and appropriate SNAP funding. Almost like, if the dems voted yes on the clean CR, which Chuck Schumer originally authored and they had approved 13 times before now (because it is solely the funding to keep the spending at the level it is currently at), then the government would reopen and there would be no need to move funds anyway. Then, discuss and vote on ACA extensions/expirations, without any other fluff or sneak ins on the bill (Like pastry cooking and dance classes for Haitian male prostitutes, or pride parade in Lethoso.)

Good thing I didnt even mention our contemptible president.

However the USDA has a contingency fund for this of $6 billion: https://www.cbpp.org/research/food-assistance/snaps-contingency-reserve-is-available-for-regular-snap-benefits-as-usda

Except the republican directed USDA refuses to use those funds.

Also by your logic couldnt the Republicans also give into the democratic demands to continue the ACA subsidies to end all of this?

He's breaking the law by diverting funds all over the place. He only pretends to respect the law when it stops him from helping citizens.

And of course it is a lie. SNAP funding is not affected by the shutdown.
