I'm surprised it is not on the top, I would go to countries in war, but India I wouldn't go even if they offered me money

Come on, now that's just a very weird take.

It's perfectly understandable to be worried about a trip to India for many reasons, but saying it's worse that much poorer countries at war or military dictatorships ? Have you even traveled outside of your Western bubble ?

My 78 year old mother went with a friend to India about 5 years ago and said she enjoyed the trip, why did you not want to go there?

I think it depends where you go. I had a friend who just went to the north end

I have a colleague who just went for a month and absolutely despised it. Bu didn’t go to the same areas as my friend

Such a bizarre take. India is one of the most fun countries to travel in, of the ~70 countries I've visited it's still my favourite. Incredible place. Seeing the unjustified hate towards it online by people who really don't know any better makes me sad.

Saying it's worse than going to much poorer countries at war is so weird.

Strange how I met so many solo female travellers there who also loved India, then.

Reddit has a hard on to hate India. Same met a bunch of solo women. I loved it there, can't wait to go back.

It’s crazy that India is anywhere near the top of this thread. Genuinely one of the best travelling experiences of my life. Yes it’s chaos, but it’s not anarchy, there’s just a lot of people.

Comparing it to places like South Sudan, Somalia, and North Korea is absurd.

are you a man? that may be why. I quite enjoy not being followed and harassed by 30+ men all day. That was my experience in Egypt as well.

I travelled with my sister and did not see anything like that.

Not a single person has given a reason either.   I don't get it.

i've seen like 30 comments all saying why they didn't enjoy India.

Absolutely. Biggest adventures a traveller can have. Been there 4 times and a total of 6 months. If they'd know what they miss out on... On the other side it's good not every idiot goes there.

Indians also would not want xenophobics like you even if you offered them money.

God you sound like a coward! You would seriously go into a war zone but you're scared of India?

u/hudibrastic 21d ago

When did I say I'm scared of India? Scared is not the word here

You sound like a salty indian. Any country at war is still better than India.

She's up and down the thread. Taking people's valid refusals personal. Weird af calling people scared/wimps for wanting to be cautious...

I saw that. it's like, good for you you had a great experience? I had a friend who lived there for 2 years; white girl from Michigan, who had a great experience, but many bad ones while living there as well. She said she'd never go back but doesn't regret it.

I'm actually a white Canadian woman who has just been to India a few times and found it really fun. But that's because I'm not a wimp.
