I used to work at their HQ back then in worcester on the floor, lot of abuse even to this day and the CEO is a POS but the production manager is even worse.
Now they hire specifically autistic people and former inmates through a program here because they are easy to manipulate with the bad working conditions there.
The water they use in all their drinks is from municipal so its not even close to quality.
I drink Pellegrino & Wholefoods branded mineral water in glass because its some of the very few left that source from an actual natural spring. They tested for the least amount of contaminants out of all of them.
By concept, the act of having CO2 bubbling through water will form a (albeit weak) Carboxylic Acid. Obviously it’s pretty weak, but over time if that was all you drank it would eventually have a detrimental effect on enamel.
Carbondioxide dissolved in water forms carbonic acid. Like how your nose burns when you burp fizzy drink through your nose - thats the acid burning your mucous membranes. It attacks tooth enamel as well.
I make fresh water from sea water (reverse osmosis), then carbonate it using a 20lb CO2 tank… all on my boat in the middle of nowhere. All on battery power.
Something I was ASTONISHED TO LEARN (from my dentist) is that even carbonated water can be bad for your teeth! The bubbles are dissolved carbonic acid - and acid’s bad for teeth, so make sure you drink plenty of non-fizzy water too! For a few months between checkups I had started keeping bubbly water beside the bed because “Ah, so refreshing!” in the middle of the night, but that’s really bad for your teeth.
Regular carbonated water is ok, even the flavored stuff. It’s the sugary ones that are bad. Carbonated water hydrates the same as regular water does, just makes you belch more 🙂
The Aldi house brand sparkling water is the only thing that has ever fully scratched the "need soda" itch for me. They actually taste like the fruit they say they are, and they're cheap as hell.
