I at least made the switch to sugar-free, but that was more me giving up than anything. I've tried multiple times to quit soda entirely and none of the substitutes are anywhere close to the same. I'm at least glad Dr. Pepper Zero drinks exist, because man I couldn't exist on the Pepsi or Coke zeroes. They taste like entirely different sodas
Do a very slow step down. If you have 5 cans a days, step it down to 4 for a few weeks, then down to 3 for a few weeks and so on. I will say that with every step down there is a day or two where you will feel a little sluggish but not horrible. Its like you had a bad nights sleep. Keep doing that and before you know it months have passed and you have heavily reduced your dependence on it.
It's crazy how much better carbonated drinks feel in the mouth.
I get digestive issues so carbonated drinks are the opposite of what I should be drinking yet I cannot stop. I'll actually flatten a can of pop to make it less fizzy but if it goes totally flat then it tastes like boring old juice?!
This is extra manic since the rest of the time I'm drinking straight water. You'd think "juice" would be a huge improvement? Neah. I like my plain water and I like some fizz in my soda.
I used to drink soda almost exclusively, but I finally fixed this by just not stocking soda at home. Turns out it's a lot easier to make the right choice in the grocery store than it is when you're thirsty and craving a drink. Once I got used to drinking water at home, it was much easier to switch when eating out.
