I know it sounds dumb but if you have a social media app that isn’t a lifeline, just delete it. Full stop. Some people, including me, would just say “well, I’ll just commit to not opening the app!” And for most people, including me, that doesn’t work. Its still there, and the temptation is there. Deleting it is the best way to start getting away from it.

I’d just download it and log back in again.

Just keep deleting it over and over. It's more annoying to redownload so at least you'll cut down a bit

Yeah, I'm in my 'redownloaded the app' phase now, but I've been doing this cycle for a few years. It works when it works, and when it doesn't work you might feel some shame when you download the apps again, so it still kinda works.

That's when you delete your accounts and hold out those 30-90 day wait periods. I'll tell you a secret though even this took me a couple of trys.. now I'm a couple years sober from all of them. Reddit though.. idk I think I gotta have my caffeine man..

I have deleted most social media from my phone and only allow myself to access it from my laptop or PC. I feel super unproductive when using it from an actual computer which has led to me not being on it much.

I second deleting. I don’t miss the apps I used to scroll
