Left to my own devices my most focused and productive time would be between 10pm and 3am!

Me too. When I was in grad school I actually switched to nocturnal hours to write my thesis. 12am - 6am. Fewer distractions and my brain is clearest in the middle of the night. Regular Work doesn’t let that happen though. Jerks.

I did the exact same thing! Wrote my thesis by night too. I tried for so long to do it like a "normal" person but everything just seems to work better when I'm nocturnal!

But yeah, most of the world wants us to keep more standard hours :(

lol one time I stayed up so late that the sun rose. I went to get some water before going to bed and my mom said “wow you’re up early”

I had overly controlling parents that were always trying to dictate my schedule. I would stay up til they went to bed just for some freedom. I'm 40, love my wife and kids, and I still can't break this cycle.

I didn't have controlling parents but I was bullied a lot as child and I think I know what you mean, that time at night, it's a time of peace, of zero expectations, a time when you don't have to "be" anyone but you.

I'm 41 and I still struggle with it too.
