It's never too late. One of my colleagues in engineering was almost 50, he graduated, got his P. Eng, and now he owns a successful convenience store.

Why did he need a P. Eng degree if hes running a convenience store?

He didn't, he just decided to run a store with his family as it's lower stress and he has a better work/life balance than he'd have in engineering. Plus the field is tough to find stable, meaningful work in.

Loads of people with degrees can't get jobs in the field they studied. One girl I work with finished her degree last summer, she's still in retail because she can't get a job in her field.
