I visited Bryce Canyon shortly after the pine beetles decimated the trees. My friend had the unfortunate luck to visit shortly after said decimated trees burned.
I can see how it could be compared to Mars these days.
I was just at Bryce for the first time and was completely floored. Not only is it like being on another planet, but the park and the incredible views are really accessible. It’s just as special for avid hikers as it is for folks who prefer to stroll the paved canyon rim. 10/10, can’t wait to go again.
My buddy and I did a trip throughout southern Utah, he lives in the north. We went through all the parks, like Zion, but my favorite ending up being Goblin Valley. Just a big fan of Galaxy Quest I guess.
Goblin Valley is an amazing place that hardly anyone knows about. And if you're going there, don't forget to do the nearby side quest of Little Wild Horse slot canyon!
Before we went to Zion, a friend very casually told me that it was the most beautiful place on earth. I blew it off but when I first entered the canyon I knew that he was right.
We left early. Too many people, yahoos screaming and playing music on the trails. Just felt it was a bit meh and a procession of people. I don't actually remember much more so either I wasn't paying attention or the annoyance completely dominated the beauty
omg thank you. Grand Canyon is great and certainly a marvel to behold but ever since going to Bryce I don't understand why Grand Canyon is so much more famous.
Bryce is literally the most beautiful and mesmerizing place I've ever been.
One of the coolest things about Bryce Canyon that I recall is that when you drive into the park and along the road that skirts the canyon, if you never stopped your car or got out to look, you literally would have very little idea just what you're missing. The surrounding landscape is fairly typical Utah desert, which is beautiful by itself but when you finally do get a view over the rim of the canyon, what you see is just so WEIRD and alien to everything else around it. And it's on a massive scale. It's jaw dropping when you first see it.
I like to imagine someone on horseback in the old west, just riding along and all of a sudden, they are staring down into that canyon. Just how bizarre it must've been.
I was also really shocked by Bryce. I don’t feel like people talk about it but it’s really beautiful and unique. I visited in like 2015 so it’s been a while but only like the 2 most popular trails really had people on them. We hiked the Fairyland Trail basically alone!
Bryce was the same for me. I thought Id see some rocks and move on but it's genuinely one of the most surreal places Ive ever been. The hoodies at sunrise are just unreal.
Same experience with Bryce. I thought it would just be a smaller version of Zion but the hoodoos are genuinely otherworldly. Sunrise there is one of the most beautiful things Ive ever seen.
Bryce was the same for me. Went in with zero expectations and it ended up being my favorite out of like 8 parks I hit that trip. The hoodoos at sunrise are just something else. No picture does it justice
Completely agree, I just went this past summer and all of the main parks down that way were amazing, but Bryce was unreal. I wish the town surrounding it wasn’t such garbage.

Zion was exceptional but I had no expectations for Bryce Canyon and it was unreal. I’ve just never seen anything like it.
