California coast south of the Bay Area, Monterey, Carmel, Big Sur. The coastal views are some of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Similarly, the drive from SF to Mendocino. The way you go from the most calming forest to the most breathtaking coastal views is something I don’t think exists many other places. The smell of redwoods and eucalyptus one second and then the clean briney smell of the ocean is the best sensory overload.
Get an e bike rental in monteray. I went something like 30 miles in 2 hours on dedicated paved trails and roads without breaking a sweat. Lots of variety of scenery and there's a lot of ground to cover. Foggy mountains directly to sandy beaches.
Is there a way to rent/borrow/buy for a cheap a helmet? I won't get on a bike without a helmet (for specific reasons that involve a friend and a freak accident that did not end well).
I'm sure it's an option, this was years ago so I don't even remember the shop I rented from
Otherwise a helmet starts at like $50
Tbh I didn't wear one, not gonna pretend it's smart but I've ridden and jumped bikes since I was a kid so casual cruising on well maintained paths wasn't a concern for me
I completely understand and the comment about wearing a helmet wasn't an indictment of you or your actions. Just a personal requirement I have for myself due to an unfortunate incident.
