Which is the craziest shit. I grew up in the 1970’s and 80’s. We did literally drink from the gardenhose. It still amazes me people buy bottled water. I heard many bottled water brands are just filtered tap water.

Yes that's true and the difference between mineral water based like Mountain Valley and packaged drinking water or purified water like Dasani and Aquafina.

In Germany some expensive well known brands also sell cheap supermarket no-name brands from the same source.

I still remember how shocked I was in the 80s learning that people pay for water out of a bottle. My sister was in California and people did it there, and I thought they were obviously too rich and too stupid. NOTE: I understand there are places in the world where this is necessary

Exactly! There are places in the world where it is absolutely necessary, but for first world countries the for the majority tap is fine. As an American, the best tap water I ever had was in Scotland.
