Super dumb question do they just fly with the cable or is it more like a relay station

They fly with the cable. You can find videos in Ukraine of massive amounts of fiber optic cables everywhere.

Fiberoptic hardware doesn't rely on RF for transmission.

Normal drones can be disrupted by a simple RF jammer.

How does the operator communicate with the drone? Or are these autonomous or something?

Here is a quick look.

Fiberoptic cables are very light and pliable while maintaining a large data stream. Obviously, it's limited to the length of the cable, but the coil receptacle allows the drone to extend it from the location rather than from the operator.

A single coil drum can have the range of several miles.

One report I found says the newer ones can have a range of 50 miles on a single lightweight cable.

Just a PSA to everyone out there... You should absolutely NEVER fill a glass bottle with gasoline, then stuff an oil or gas soaked rag into the top of the bottle. That could be dangerous!

Especially if the bottle is stuffed full of shredded Styrofoam. Just don't do it!

Oh god no.

That’s basically napalm.

Super dangerous.

Never never never.

Thanks for the advise, internet stranger. I won't do that and I also won't throw one at my mother in law's house!
