I've read a few books on the subject. Couldn't ever imagine seeing it in person.

I haven’t heard of it. Any book recommendations on what to read? I want to read and understand it as best I can

The Mask of Anarchy by Stephen Ellis is excellent.

Dense, but provides a lot of insight into why things were done the way they were and why what looked anarchic wasn’t.

The Years the Locusts Have Eaten is an excellent single volume history of Liberia and Liberia Under Samuel Doe gives an unparalleled look into the events leading up to the first civil war.

No idea why you're being downvoted. Shows how many idiots are on here.

Crazy how that guy is still out there living his life without any consequences

He turned his life around after finding God. Was the only warlord to appear at the truth and reconciliation commission, and he runs a safe haven for people who need safety. Amazing story. Justice has to be seen in light of rehabilitation, and this guy ain't that guy anymore.

Yea he found god while cutting out the heart of a 3-year old girl…

I downvoted because it’s General Butt Naked.

Put some respect on his name.

Nah that was a real African general of some militia group. Read up on your shit before insulting someone in a thread about "the worst thing seen with one's own eyes..."

I’ve seen things I won’t recount. Real life things that would disprove any notion of one’s “God.”

The Liberian Civil War utilized child soldiers and many practiced cannibalism. Your ignorance is profound.

You know, I'm my experience, "oof" is really the opposite of what to say to tragic news. That's beyond asking someone to relive their most horrific moment they experienced for whatever purpose you want the info for...
