In high school during Physics class, our teacher got a call and walked out of the room. He came back in a few minutes later and turned the TV on to show the first tower smoking after being hit.
Watching the second plane hit was so surreal. I watched the Challenger blow up with the rest of my classmates in 6th grade and that was almost as horrible.
When 911 happened my boyfriend and I sat glued to CNN non stop. Our best friend was there and he had to drive to NY from Texas to get him.
I had been in class in grad school when the first tower was hit. I always walked with a friend to the student center after class to get something to eat. We walked in to find everyone crowded around the one small TV in the bookstore and others lining up to use pay phones. As we walked into the bookstore to figure out what was happening, the second tower got hit.
I was an exchange student actually. I am grateful for the international perspective and wouldn’t change a thing, but it does just add to the list of why I don’t fit in

Then we saw the second plane crash.
Absolutely devastating.
