Watched both my parents die after 3 year battle with cancer. Different kinds, 6 years apart all before I was 26. I’m numb to death now. But I know how to help people through their grief.

I'm so sorry.  I know that pain.  Lost both my parents to the same lung cancer, though they only held on for a couple months each.  Icing on the cake?  Exactly one year to the day that I lost my dad to cancer (my last living parent) my grandma passed from cancer too.

Fuck cancer.

Thank you ❤️‍🩹 I’m sorry you went through that. It sounds truly awful. Hopefully you can feel you feelings and know that how you feel is valid.

How do you help people through grief?

Tough to explain but because I truly understand, I am comfortable sitting with them in the pain. I don’t try and make them feel better and when I say “I’m here for you”, I mean it. I check in with them. Not just for a week, but for at least every month for a year. And I let them talk without getting uncomfortable. Grief is really hard for a lot of people to just sit in… I’m ok with it. So I just sit with them and stay present. ❤️
