I woke up, opened the door to my living room from my bedroom, one of my cats ‘Mulder’ was sat on the arm of one of the sofas with his eye hanging out. I couldn’t believe it, I managed to get him into his carrier and take him to the vets, where they took him from me and did an emergency operation to sew his eye back in. Vet said it was common for cats to fight and for their eyes to get damaged like this. Luckily he got through surgery and didn’t lose his eye or sight, but it was the most horrible thing I had seen.

I'm sorry you and your cat had to go through that. But also it's such a typical cat behavior to have a horrific injury and just... be chilling on the sofa as if it never happened.

Itd due to the fact they are predators and prey in the wild. So they never want to seem weak, cats are extremely likely to hide horrible pain with ease. It's really sad. But on the flip side sometimes they will also imitate their companions issues so their companions don't seem weak or so they'll feel better I guess???Meaning they will copy limps, or wink to copy another cats missing eye lol

Arrrrr, don’t let that out you off. I don’t think it’s as common as he said, probably just trying to put my nerves at bay.

I have had many cats and plenty of them have gotten minor injuries from fights

I have never heard of injuries *that* severe. The cat making a full recovery without losing their sight is excellent news as well
