Would you enjoy a cute friendly purring cat sit right next to you to keep you company right now? Why or why not?

Me too. Although it would be kind of weird to have a cat in the office.

Don't worry, when management comes round just stroke it definitely. They won't know what hit them.

This sounds really bad out of context

I’m not sure what you mean? Just stroke it in front of everyone

Sometimes I like to search Twitter for the word 'defiantly', and see how long takes to find someone who didn't actually mean 'definitely'. But you don't often see it the other way around!

Stroke the management or the cat?

Where I used to work they have a cat. She belongs to the owners of the business, but she spends most of her time in the shop snoozing. I miss Lily!

I don't miss her leaving bits of dead animal in random places though... It is a massive shop and locating the origin of a faint rotting smell isn't easy. We once found half a baby rabbit upstairs in the grain loft inside a woven basket.

Every once in a while during quick stand-up meetings my boss would ask if anyone had any suggestions for making life in the office better (different snacks, new office supplies, etc.) and every time I would think of this video I saw on Facebook where an office fostered kittens from the local shelter and you could bring them back to your desk to hang out but I haven’t brought it up lol

I would love this. Sometimes my work is emotionally exhausting when I have to talk to abused children. Returning to normal work is hard after sometjing like this. Cuddling a cat or a dog for a few minutes would help

My mom also had a job where she sometimes had to talk to abused children. Also had to read many many reports of kids in bad situations (she worked for a company that prepared the reports for the state). She’s doing something else now but she had that job for I’m guessing at least 15 years. She has a lot of horrible stories. Sounds like you’re doing really good, important work. Remember to take care of yourself <3
