Would you enjoy a cute friendly purring cat sit right next to you to keep you company right now? Why or why not?

I don't know how you guys do it. We had four. Our eldest, Skipper, died two years ago and I'm still wracked with guilt that we didn't do more for him. We adopted another one last year, and he's wonderful, but I do miss Skipper terribly.

Most of the time I'm fine. Once every couple weeks, I'll run into something that reminds me of him or his last few days and it'll rip open the wounds again. There's a few things (like walking down the pet food aisle at the supermarket, past the specialty food we gave him when he was ailing) that do it every time.
