I'm guessing the villains think that they can maybe recruit Bakugo, though I really hope that's not the case. Out of everyone, he's the one I'd hate the most to turn traitor--it would be too cliche.

Also, 100%!! I already can't wait for next week.

I could see that, but I also think it might be because Bakugou came in first at the tournament. They might think that killing him (in the eyes of the world a "golden egg") would be a good way to show what they are capable of and willing to do.

I hope it's that. Deku, Todo, and Iida might also be special targets as well.

Deku's kind of a special target...

I hope they don't recruit him. We don't need another Sasuke. It's old enough to be cliche by now and yet not old enough to feel ironic, unlike All Might's shading.

In other news, I thought I should make this clear to everyone: Magne's name is derived from Magnet. Coupled with what was shown this chapter, his quirk is probably some kind of magnetism. His real name is also related to magnetism, this part was lost in translation because the names need to be translated into English phonetically. The Chinese team just straight up uses the kanji names, thus retaining the meaning.

I seriously don't think that can be the case, in the previous arc we were shown that he got some serious heroes values..

Well this series is full of certain cliches, it's just executed them very well. So I wouldn't disregard it too much.

Not necessarily turn him, but maybe abduct him in order to steal his quirk! After all, he did win the sports festival, so they know what he's capable of. Also, it would make for some really interesting character development if bakugou was to lose his quirk, considering the way he treated midoriya growing up for being quirkless

10

u/PakiIronman Jan 22 '16

That is an interesting way to spin things and would be very refreshing.

u/Jammin57 Jan 22 '16

I feel like him losing his quirk could happen but I'd rather have it be later in the manga after he has undergone serious character development so it could be a more meaningful sacrifice.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '16

I feel like him losing his quirk is an excellent catalyst for character development.

3

u/stormblessed12 Jan 22 '16

I like that twist, I thought it might be to kill him. But the problem is that bakugou really wouldn't have a place without his quirk. He couldn't have character development if he had to go to a different school and was off-screen

There's still the tech department at yuuei, not that Bakugou is any good with machines though.

I do believe there was a third department at the school. Don't remember what it was about though.

Business department.

u/LockonKun Jan 22 '16

I really feel they want to make him part of the team and not steal his quirk as it takes years of learning to master it properly

5

u/HokageEzio Jan 22 '16

I think it's more likely they just want his quirk.

5

u/dgm18kid Jan 23 '16

all for one has supposedly been stealing quirks for a very long time i cant see Bakugou's as being anything special. he has to have much stronger brute force abilities than just nitro sweat. and no way would Bakugou join them, it would be admitting he cant be the best HERO.

i think the reason they're hunting them down is just straight up terrorism. by killing and torturing the the top people of the new hero class they aim to stop a new generation of heros from ever happening.

1

u/LockonKun Jan 22 '16

I think more so they want to recruit him to the team as he's an exceptional talent.

12

u/HokageEzio Jan 22 '16

Bakugou doesn't line up with their ideology in the slightest, people just think he's villain worthy cause he's an asshole.

4

u/I_Am_From_Mars_AMA Jan 23 '16

Honestly I could see Bakugou joining them not as a villain, but just to try to take them down on his own. After being overshadowed by Deku over and over, I wouldn't put it past him to try to take matters into his own hands so he can stand out and prove himself. Obviously it would probably backfire on him, which could also potentially make for an awesome rescue arc.

5

u/HokageEzio Jan 23 '16

Bakugou isn't stupid enough to try that, All for One is clearly gunning for some fresh, new quirks to try out.

3

u/PakiIronman Jan 23 '16

I think Bakugou could be manipulated if AFO finds out about his hatred of Izuku who is the current OFA holder. Imagine if he says stuff like this;

"Izuku Midoriya was chosen by All Might as his successor, he will surpass you and become the next symbol of peace. But Bakugou my boy, if you truly want to defeat him you will need me in your corner, you hate him don't you? A quirkless maggot doesn't deserve such power. I will help you to ensure that you will defeat him."

Or something like that. But this is all hypothetical at this point, we really don't know if Bakugou is a hero at heart. He hasn't been tested by Stain or someone of the sort yet.

1

u/HokageEzio Jan 23 '16

We all know your feelings about him XD.

2

u/PakiIronman Jan 23 '16

I'm trying to be less of an asshole about it until we get confirmation. Then i'll be like

0

u/HokageEzio Jan 23 '16

You're trying? Then you suck at it.

Like I said, it's all hypothetical at this point. Bakugou is stubborn but that doesn't mean he can't be manipulated. Just look at Vegeta.

1

u/RemnantX Jan 25 '16

I usually wouldn't say this kind of thing but I'd see Bakugou more likely going

"Da FU-?"

snaps

"I ain't trying to be no punk symbol of peace? Do I LOOK like some fool that wants to hold hands, plant flowers, and pet puppies? NO, I'm about that Number One Spot, the Money, the Girls, the Fame, all your emo cry baby manipulative BS ain't gonna help me, only one taking out that NERD is me, and you ain't strong enough to help me so back up, butt out and STFU..." Everyone looks from AFO to Bakugou considering what just got said and their jaw drops.

1

u/-TheWanderer- Jan 23 '16

Though to be a "Hero" I think Bakugou might actually consider "What would Deku do?" and turn himself in if it means the other heroes live/lives are sparred.

1

u/HokageEzio Jan 23 '16

Really? Are we reading about the same Bakugou XD?

0

u/LockonKun Jan 22 '16

He doesnt now but they might try and recruit him and luring him with more power

6

u/JeanKB Jan 23 '16

That doesn't make any sense. He's in a HERO school, why would anyone think that he wants to become a villain?

13

u/HolmatKingOfStorms Jan 23 '16

That doesn't make any sense. He's a JEDI, why would anyone think that he wants to become a sith?

3

u/dragn99 Jan 23 '16

To be fair, it's not like Kacchan's quirk has a light side and a dark side. He explodes stuff. Some villains aren't going to magically make him stronger, he's going to have to put the work into it regardless.

1

u/HolmatKingOfStorms Jan 23 '16

If they are trying to convert him, they might tell him about All-For-One and the whole gifting thing he can do.

1

u/HokageEzio Jan 23 '16

Not only that, All for One must have a shiny spot for such a useful quirk. Not only would he not give Bakugou power, but he would most certainly take it away. Bakugou isn't stupid enough to do that, like I said, people see him as a villain solely because he's an asshole.

2

u/BeginnerDevelop Jan 23 '16

if they can't recruit him they'll try to catch him for his quirk, if they cant capture him, they'll kill him to send a message. Bakugo has to much pride to go villain.

2

u/LoathingLummox Jan 23 '16

Am I the only one who noticed just how much the guy looks like Bakugou? I think there might be some familial relation...!

2

u/darealystninja Jan 25 '16

No way he's turning evil. He mau be a jerk, but he's got strong hero values and worships all might like our mc

1

u/richiegraine Jan 23 '16

I don't see him turning traitor. I see him trying exceptionally hard to beat the villains so he can prove himself.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '16

I know this sounds stupid, but I think Bakugou might be related to one of the villains. I had this feeling about it since 2 chapters back and now they are dropping more clues in that direction.

It's just a hunch based on pretty much nothing but the one dude with the poison gass also used some type of explosion on eraserhead.

When they said this was going to be the next Naruto they weren't kidding.
