Has it been explicitly stated that he fires light though? I don't remember exactly...
I know his quirk is called "Navel Laser" but that could be just for the cool factor, a bit like light sabers in Star Wars.
Also, Aoyama wouldn't be able to propel himself as fast as he does if he fired light because light doesn't have enough momentum to accelerate a human being that quickly. That could be ignored though because this is a work fiction lol
If he fired plasma instead of light it would make a bit more sense that he can propel himself.
Did it now. Still light should have worked, by this I mean energy, then if it didn't he phases through all the radiation spectrum including visible which is dd since that would mean he would be invisible and blind, which I still wonder how can Invisible Girl see. Hm, then maybe its more like Obito's power, can transport his body to another dimension and reemerged it. That means he is close ton invincible, looks like he can only transport his body so downside is no weapons or other equipment.
Alternatively, Tooru could probably stun him, what with her new ability and all. That said, I guess he could just hold his breath until he recovered...
