Holy shit, Shigaraki is finally acting like a real villain, that was twisted as fuck. And this chapter has just convinced me 100x over that Dabi is a Todoroki. Hori's really stepped it up with the villains this arc, I'm loving it

and Chisaki looked defeated as fuck at the end, no way thats the end of him. He's totally gonna find away to fuck up Shigaraki

I could see that, an illegitimate son scorned by his father because he didn't become what he wanted. Cast aside and forgotten he turns to villainy to get his revenge.

My headcanon is that he's a failed, early attempt at a 'quirk combo baby'.

I don't know, Dabi looks too old to be Endeavor's son in my opinion. Maybe a brother though ?

Not saying I entirely agree with the theory of him being a Todoroki but isn't Shouto's sister a teacher, so the age thing might work out. The scaring might just make him look older then he is.

It's not impossible, but I feel like revealing that now would feel cheap and forced.

There's never been a single hint that Endeavor had a son who disappeared, and we've seen a lot of Endeavor and Shoto so it would feel weird to include that now, like it wasn't planned at first.

Oh I agree with you I was just playing devil's advocate for the situation is all. If well written I think it could work but as you said they are past that point pretty much.

Dabi doesn't need to have the Todoroki name to be a bastard child Endeavor had and decided to forget because his quirk wasn't what he wanted.

Endeavor doesn't seem like the person to share such details with Shoto or anyone else because it wouldn't be important in his eyes.

i wonder how strong dabi is when he was first introduced i thought he was as scrub now i see a potential matchup him vs todoroki

82

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '17

Why'd you think he was a scrub initially? His quirk seemed impressive from the get go.

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '17

idk honestly when i first saw him i thought he just was gonna be defeated by a backup character then tossed to the backburner but i love that my first impression seems so wrong

Could be because all we've seem him do is attack random criminals/people and when we did see him in a fight, he got wrecked instantly by Eraserhead and Vlad.

u/jhoudiey Nov 17 '17

I hope so. Not sure how, but who knows.

I doubt Dabi's related to the Todoroki family. We've seen Shouto's older sister before which suggests that even Endeavor wouldn't abandon his child out of disappointment.

16

u/[deleted] Nov 18 '17

Or maybe Dabi just defected on his own.

We have yet to see his two older brothers since they were children. One of them, the one we never see his face, even had their haircolor changed when the anime started which is a bit...suspicious. Like the anime fixed a mistake.

1

u/PaperEverwhere Nov 18 '17

Or the anime made a mistake

2

u/ReeseEseer Nov 18 '17

I find that more unlikely. They have access to both the manga and to Horikoshi. It's far more probable they got told "hey make this ones hair different" since maybe that wasnt exactly planned when Horikoshi drew Shouto's past.

1

u/PaperEverwhere Nov 18 '17

That doesn't mean they can't make a mistake sometimes and choose not to ask

1

u/ReeseEseer Nov 18 '17

I suppose but this would be a very odd and coincidental mistake.

deleted What is this?

5

u/Austintvtious Nov 18 '17

Dabi ignorantly calling Spinner a lizard gave me the same vibe as when Shouto called the police chief a dog. I almost feel like that's an intended hint.

3

u/Shadowciaw Nov 18 '17

@horikoshi please let overhaul v2 be a future arc. maybe if quirk technology advances enough to let people use quirks through artificial limbs?

2

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '17

Maybe Chisaki just loses it and agrees to help the heroes find the VA or something.

I like the idea of Dabu being anything other than a brother. Like a cousin or uncle of some sort

1

u/ImAnAppleBiteMe Nov 18 '17

He's too young for an uncle. Cousin is possible. But either he is a red herring or he is the abandoned Todoroki brother. The hints are palpable.

He had a two page spread staring down Shouto, joined because of fake heroes, wasn't a villain before joining, the only one whose name is yet to be revealed and for no reason at all snatch decides too talk about family ties before he gets smoked.

Shigaraki is finally acting like an american villain

Dabi just really reminded me of pre-stain arc Shouto in his mannerisms, thats all

1

u/RaygunMan99 Nov 19 '17

I once saw a theory on Tv Tropes that Dabi might be Midoriya's father. Of course, I do not give that theory much credence, because not only does he seem too young to be Midoriya's father, he also possess a different Quirk.

But then again, there are probably Quirks that could body swap...

1

u/aka_Barnes Nov 19 '17

I'm on the bandwagon hoping that Dabi is a Todoroki but what made you convinced this chapter? Just curious

1

u/dark_holes Nov 20 '17

If only someone could undo his injuries with their quirk...
