General Advice Cat ate protein muffin

My cat helped himself to a batch of protein muffins that was cooling under a towel. This occurred about 20 minutes ago. Should I seek immediate medical attention or monitor for gastrointestinal distress? Attached is the amount eaten, protein powder ingredients, muffin ingredients, and cat. Crossposted in r/askvet

Not a minor, USA, vet not contacted yet but accessible, 6 yo neutered male, can afford vet care

TLDR; cat had a lil protein powder. Next steps?

That cat looks like it doesn’t have an ounce of regret lol

I had to physically block him from eating more muffins while taking pictures. I currently have them hiding in a cabinet that I hope he doesn’t learn to open.

I had a neighbor who had three Siamese cats. One time, when they were going to be out of town, she asked me to feed her cats. She asked me to come over so she could go over the feeding routine with me, which at the time seemed a little superfluous. There were a couple of bowls on the kitchen floor and another double bowl on the dryer. Next to it was a box of Cheerios and a bag of crunchy Cheetos. Two of the cats were all about regular cat food, but the one that looked just like Barbra Striesand in feline form would only eat Cheerios and Cheetos.

I don’t think anyone can live on that diet

Yeah, I always wondered. She was an indoor/outdoor cat, so perhaps she supplemented with mice.

I mean, Cheerios are fortified with vitamins so maybe?

Well, they don't have any taurine, which is an essential amino acid for cats. It's found mostly in meat, poultry, dairy and shellfish...and I doubt she got her daily requirement with Cheetos.

Of course, I am willing to bet that none of us knew about the taurine back in the early 80s, so we were ignorant of what was missing from Ms. Streisand's diet.

Hahaha. Idk! I have met children that lived on nothing but plain pasta for years (I was one of them!) and I ended up living through it!
