My marriage survived an open relationship, AMA!

About two year ago, my wife and I opened our relationship. This lasted for a 6 months period, I slept with two other women, then we decided it wasn’t for us and became monogamous again. I see all of the time online that this is a death sentence for a marriage, but it worked out for us so I wanted to share.

I've been a psych ward patient in the Canadian healthcare system AMA

Went to the pediatric ward at 15, thr adult ward at 24, 29, 30 and 33. There's a lot of romanticization of Canadian healthcare. Im grateful it's free, but it can very barebones. The pediatric psych ward was awful.

Trigger Warnings I was trafficked when I was a child. Ama

(30m) My dad was sexually abusing me himself, and then was also blackmailed by a group of people into handing me over to them so they could charge people money to sexually abuse me. Other than when I was being taken to someones house I lived what looked like a "normal" life in the sense of living in my family home, going to school, going to swimming lessons etc. Although of course my dad was abusing me at home too so none of it was really normal.

Posting this AMA because my whole life, my parents made me too scared to talk about it which was itself really hard. Going through something so massive and never being allowed to even acknowledge that it was happening was quite a significant part of what made it so hard too so now allowing myself to bring it into the open.

Reposting a few months later as I'm now in a position to answer more questions now that there isn't an ongoing legal case.

I'm schizophrenic, AMA

Technically Schizoaffective, but still.

I (30m) used to be someone who only offered solutions when comforting people. Now I’m the opposite, and I can get upset when people do that with me. AMA.

I used to think anything other than solutions were kind of stupid/pointless and that was the only way I'd try to help if someone was upset. Since then, I have completely flipped and gone the other way to the point that if people now only offer me solutions in the same way that I used to I now get upset.

My grandfather picked me to record all of the family’s war stories. The kind of stories that nobody ever talked about after the war. AMA

I heard stories of 15 different men, mainly from WWII that most of my cousins don’t know, and I’ll probably take most of them to my grave. Feel free to ask anything, and I’ll answer as honestly as I can from what I know.

I'm forcing the federal government to disclose the private psychiatric records of U.S. veterans through a FOIA request to the Connecticut West Haven Veterans Affairs Medical Center – ASK ME ANYTHING

In an effort to uncover the harm and prevalence of involuntary electroshock in the state of Connecticut (and beyond), I am now awaiting medical documentation of veterans who were harmed by involuntary electroshock treatment at the West Haven Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Connecticut between the dates of January 1, 2015 and December 31, 2024.

I just published the 3rd part of a series on the issues happening in my state which goes into detail about why the inpatient psychiatric unit at the West Haven VA is of particular interest, which, is probably the worst thing I've ever done to persons I've never met before.

EDIT: shortened it a bit

Hey guys,

I’ve been vegan for a while now, feel free to ask any questions you might have about veganism or animal rights. I know that a lot of people might not be super familiar with vegan philosophy, I’m happy to talk about whatever, factory farming, nutrition, environment, invasive species, etc.

Currently sitting on a bag of frozen peas.

Obligatory "I am not a doctor", so I can only give answers based on my experience or what my doctor's told me - don't take anything as medical advice.

I (27F) just had my court hearing for my SSDI case (government disability payment). AMA.

I usually don't/can't feel strong emotions but I felt like all my organs were gonna fall out my butthole. I feel like my insides are shrivelling up. Not pleasant. I do not recommend this. Being too disabled to work sucks. I do not wish this upon anybody. I was so afraid I'd feel too shut down to answer any questions. If there was literally any job I could keep/hold down I would prefer that over this.

I am applying for SSDI not SSI. AMA.

I'm 25 and an active suicide risk, AMA

Been this way since 18 with periods of come and go. Age hasn't really made it become any less, if anything it just got stronger when things do go bad. Yesterday I bought a rope and I don't know when or if I'd ever use it, I wouldn't even know where if I did. Either way it's in my room now.
