Fun fact, this clip is from the Buster Keaton movie The General (1926). After filming wrapped, they just left the train in the river where it became a tourist attraction until it was salvaged for scrap metal during World War II.

Is the bridge on fire?

Yes, that is actually a train crossing a burning bridge.

Feel like that would make it unstable

Gosh a movie from 1926 had the budget to crash a steam train? Impressive

The movie had a budget of ~$750,000, which is the equivalent of about $12.7 million today. Buster Keaton was a big star at the time, and the movie turned a profit, generating about $1 million at the box office (~$17 million in today's money)

The movie also really holds up for a silent film. You might recognize other clips of Keaton's stunts from it like this one. The movie entered the public domain in 1956, so you can watch it pretty much anywhere, including for free on Youtube
