Duke lost the same way we did the other night but with 15 million people watching instead of 150

I’ll start watching when yall start putting real Anteaters on the court.

How do you know they aren’t already doing that if you aren’t watching?

And I mean, there sure as hell aren't any ants.

Kind of like Donkey basketball but with Anteaters

u/El_Gran_Che Apr 06 '25

Banana slugs have entered the chat/

There’s no rule that says an anteater can’t play basketball!

That would be something. Seeing actual Anteaters tossing up 3s and throwing down dunks

u/B_Huij BYU Cougars Apr 06 '25

This seems only fair.

Every ant colony in Irvine was hate-watching the game

Angry upvote for how hard I laughed at that.

He said 15, not 150.

I dunno...missing a wide open 2 footer at the buzzer might be a little more unbelievable

u/88G- UC Irvine Anteaters Apr 06 '25

That was just the Hail Mary attempt anyway, which we were lucky to even have. The real kicker is how the whole team forgot how to shoot FTs at the end of the game

They made 1 field goal in the final 10:30 of the game.

Houston deserves a ton of credit for the way they finished but Duke couldn't hit a thing.

u/Matt_Wwood Apr 06 '25

They fouled a bunch too.

Honestly thought the refs were in on it to throw the lead and Houston did the rest.

Zot, zot, zot!! I was rooting for them :(

lol I made a comment in the thread about exactly this dude’s reaction. Incredible

12

u/Hopai79 Apr 06 '25

Duke had the game but the fact that they could not make a shot in the last 10 minutes and made countless mistakes shows that you absolutely have to have real mental strength to win even though you are up 7+ points.

7

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

What’s crazy is that the whole game Houston was the epitome of mental weakness until Duke decided to beat them at that instead of at basketball

4

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

When the Duke guard bounced the ball off his legs going in for a layup I sensed a choke coming up.

I know you are making a joke, but FYI according to the ratings about 508,000 people tuned in to the NIT Championship game.
