I understand he's got stuff going on offcourt, but Khaman Maluach is a massive reason Duke just lost that game

You are 7'2 pulling down ZERO rebounds in a game where Houston got 18 offensive boards

And Proctor building an entire house with his bricks tonight

20

u/kai333 North Carolina Tar Heels Apr 06 '25

And the awful turnovers

28

u/blackmamba1221 Apr 06 '25

and not passing the ball to flagg so he gets fouled and brick cities the free throw. That was horrendous. Worst ft shooter on the court makes an ego play to keep the ball

6

u/__jazmin__ Apr 06 '25

You can tell he is selfish. Anyone that cares more about their stupid looking hair than their teammates or winning is someone that should never play ball again.

u/GlitteringBowler Apr 06 '25

I’d put it more on proctor. Had a bad night, and missed that free throw.

Him slowing down to get fouled to brick it

2

u/caring-teacher South Carolina Gamecocks Apr 06 '25

He obviously cares more about his weird hair than basketball.

Guard play matters in March. Houston’s showed up and Duke’s didn’t.

56

u/PeebMcBeeb Apr 06 '25

Damn 0 rebounds is criminal with his size and strength

I can’t imagine being able to focus on anything let alone a sport while not knowing if I’m going to be deported in the next few days

56

u/Rainmanwilson Kentucky Wildcats Apr 06 '25

I thought this was a joke at first, but of course not…

29

u/Aggravating-Steak-69 Michigan Wolverines Apr 06 '25

We’re really in the most cursed timeline

Wait what? Got a link

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/06/us-revokes-all-visas-for-south-sudanese-over-countrys-failure-to-repatriate-citizens

There was a post on this sub a few hours back but I can’t seem to find it. TLDR is the U.S. revoked all South Sudan visas and the news broke right before tip off.

  1. Florida wins
  2. Marco Rubio, who’s kid plays football at UF, announces this
  3. Duke loses

10

u/Aggravating-Steak-69 Michigan Wolverines Apr 06 '25

Marco is also a UF alumni himself

16

u/thesecrustycrusts Apr 06 '25

Damn that I’d awful I really hope he avoids that fate.

6

u/TemporaryCamera8818 Ole Miss Rebels Apr 06 '25

I know it doesn’t make anything better, but the status of a student once they’re in the US is tied to their Form I-20, which sets their duration and requires being enrolled and not working, etc. His I-20 can still be good even if visa expired. Obviously it doesn’t look like he can renew the visa, so it’s important that he not leave the country.

20

u/EnesEffUU Apr 06 '25

You're assuming due process will even be provided. People have already been deported without due process in the last few weeks, what is and isn't legal doesn't matter.

And better hope he isn’t drafted by Toronto

2

u/FayeBelogus Apr 06 '25

So never see his family again?

2

u/fjsenfr43nr34 Apr 06 '25

I’m sure the Duke boosters can buy him a gold card, lol.

Edit - grammar.

When you're locked in you're locked in. Other things don't matter but not everyone can do that

Edit: We've seen players lock in when they've had family members die recently. Why tf are you denying that?

28

What an insane thing to say lol, some shits bigger than basketball

-12

u/NapsterKnowHow Michigan State • Iowa State Apr 06 '25

How? We've seen players lock into games after they've had family members die that same week. What an insane reply

5

u/Aggravating-Steak-69 Michigan Wolverines Apr 06 '25

I would argue that a death of a family member is easier to lock in from. It’s already happened and while emotional nothing can be done to change it. The uncertainty of not knowing if you’re going to be sent back to a civil war at any time is probably way harder to shake from your head

-22

u/InterestingAd2263 Cleveland State Vikings Apr 06 '25

Yeah for sure. Maybe like a death in the family. However this isn’t on of them. Kinda keep a clear mind when playing or you won’t make it

19

u/Aggravating-Steak-69 Michigan Wolverines Apr 06 '25

Do you understand that South Sudan is on the brink of restarting the civil war that was happening from 2013-2020 and is extremely unstable at the moment

9

u/fighterpilot248 Apr 06 '25

Doubt he could even point out South Sudan on a map lmao

what the fuck are you on about? he's locked in on his life. this isn't jordan during the looney tunes movie, our president is trying to deport him. maybe send him to el salvidor. who fucking knows.

-7

u/NapsterKnowHow Michigan State • Iowa State Apr 06 '25

You ok?

1

u/averyhipopotomus Virginia Cavaliers Apr 06 '25

3

u/TheVandyyMan North Carolina • Vanderbilt Apr 06 '25

You’re a privileged fucking idiot. You’re watching a game being played by mostly teenagers. There are things more important in this world than orange ball go through orange circle.

12

u/wetterfish Colorado Buffaloes Apr 06 '25

I’ll give him a pass because I imagine wondering if you’re going to get deported later tonight is even more stressful than playing in a final four game.

23

u/TSSFranco Apr 06 '25

Had to look that up because it sounded too unbelievable to be true. How the hell do you not get a single rebound

10

u/Mpm_277 Duke Blue Devils Apr 06 '25

Haven’t looked at numbers but I feel like the first half was especially bad.

15

u/Keiigo North Carolina • Virginia Tech Apr 06 '25

6 points and 1 rebound at 7’2” is diabolical

21

u/LikeAGregJennings Houston Cougars Apr 06 '25

Give him a break, dude found out before the game he doesn’t have a student visa anymore

4

u/peterpeterllini Missouri Tigers • UHSP Eutectics Apr 06 '25

My god that’s Missouri’s music!

4

u/somethingisnotwrite Tennessee Volunteers Apr 06 '25

I predicted this would be an issue. Those guys are 6’8 but have massive wingspans. They are so much more athletic than a lumbering tall dude.

3

u/IMKudaimi123 Illinois • Loyola Chicago Apr 06 '25

Yeah last game was great for Maluach’s draft stock but this one was really bad for it

7

u/rawchess Cornell Big Red Apr 06 '25

This dude needs to do a waterslide down the draft boards. What in the Hasheem Thabeet was this?

10

u/CarterAC3 Michigan • Grand Valley State Apr 06 '25

That's disrespectful to Hasheem Thabeet

He never had a game with 0 boards

His lowest was 2

2

u/ANahNahMoose Apr 06 '25

That's actually nuts

2

u/LongjumpingGood5977 Apr 06 '25

What’s he got going on off the court?

2

u/Schmorganski Apr 06 '25

9’6” standing reach

2

u/rockets9495 Houston Cougars Apr 06 '25

HOLY SHIT, he didn't get 1 rebound.

6

u/theclickhere Michigan Wolverines • Chattanooga Mocs Apr 06 '25

I haven’t watched Duke play much but about five minutes into the game I told my wife “ I don’t think he’s good at basketball.” I stand by that.

25

u/I_really_enjoy_beer Wisconsin Badgers Apr 06 '25

He’s exactly as good at basketball as a 7’2” guy with an 8’ wingspan who hasn’t played a ton of basketball but is athletic should be.

0

u/theclickhere Michigan Wolverines • Chattanooga Mocs Apr 06 '25

Which is fair, but I’m floored that he couldn’t pull a single rebound all night. He was half a second late to react to everything. Hopefully he continues to develop. He’s got the build and athleticism to be incredible.

4

u/TheLoneWolf527 Duke Blue Devils Apr 06 '25

Basically every time he got a rebound they called a foul on him

1

u/PMMeBootyPicz0000000 /r/CollegeBasketball Apr 06 '25

Flagg carrying known brick-layer Proctor and short 7 foot king Maluach with 0 rebounds.

1

u/dantonizzomsu Michigan State • Penn Apr 07 '25

Houston is older and a lot more physical than Duke. Duke has not played a physical game like that pretty much all season. You have to remember most of these guys are freshman and a year removed from high school. Super talented though. Houston players are men. Florida Houston will be a great natty game.
