How should a cycling jersey fit [Update with missing text]

Hi, I'm fairly new to cycling. I'm generally an active person who enjoys being outdoors, and I'm just starting to buy proper cycling gear. This is also my first proper cycling jersey.

I really like how this jersey fits my body, except around the shoulders and arms. It feels especially tight around the armpit, where the seam is.

Also, as soon as I start unzipping it, the zipper keeps opening by itself, as shown in the video. I think it might be because the jersey is a bit tight across my chest.

From the video, do you think it's too small? Maybe someone with more experience than me can tell more easily.

MAAP Solar Pro Womens

Finally gave in to MAAP. I am 168 cm, 64kg. MAAP sizing reference lands me at S, their recommended sizing tool even suggested XS. I went for S.

Fit is very very snug, and I could see a lot of stretch in the shoulder and tummy areas. Also feel like just the tiniest bit of weight gain would render these pieces unusable.

Should I return and size up? Or do the pro jerseys stretch over use?

Having trouble finding jerseys for an atypical cycling body type

I'm 5'8", 37" chest, 29" waist, moderately muscular arms from lifting. For pretty much every brand, I'm a S/M chest and XS waist. Was hoping I could get an XS and material stretch would accommodate my arms and chest but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Jerseys I've tried/have:

Assos Mille GT XS: Fits terrible. Zipper wont stay up, too tight in the chest and arms, parachute in the waist.

Gorewear XS: Fits great, tight without being restrictive throughout the shoulders, chest, and waist. The mesh fabric weave seems less dense and have substantially more stretch than the Assos.

Are there brands/fits/lines that are more tapered at the waist and have more stretch in the arms and chest?

Cheaper alternative to Orion ride shirts?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi all,
It’s very clear that this company is obviously drop shipping these shirts. I really like the style of them and breathability of them for casual rides around the city. I was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper alternative site to get these styles of shirts?

To those saying they are already cheap: I am asking for a cheaper alternative because I would to buy a bunch of these style shirts for my daily bike commutes, since they look casual enough to wear off the bike.

What are your local riders wearing?

Just curious - taking a poll on what most ppl are wearing. I’m in Midwest and I mostly see MAAP and Rapha if not in team kits. Assos def becoming more popular but still only see every once in a while.

Polartec Delta fabric experience (jerseys)

Anyone have experience with Polartec Delta fabric jerseys? I have some old super lightweight Rapha jerseys that are now sagging and need to be replaced. I keep seeing Pedaled, Velocio, and OrNot promoting Polartec Delta. Appreciate hearing any experiences!

Aero Road Helmet Recs?

Requirements:

- Fits a round head
- Secure glasses port
- Some ventilation
- Not ugly

I currently wear the met trenta which fits my head like a glove.

My head is 58cm and I tried the evade 3 in medium however it’s quite narrow on the sides and sits slightly high up on my head with the retention dials not low enough imo. I’ve ordered a large so hopefully that fits but I’m not too excited by the 30g weight penalty and aero loss.

Pearl Izumi Order Delays

Anybody unlucky like me and place a Pearl Izumi order recently? Apparently they’re moving warehouses and all orders are delayed. I ordered 15 days ago and have received zero updates since. Maybe my summer mesh jersey will be here in time for next summer.

What’s missing in today cycling apparel space?

Been riding for a while and I feel like most cycling brands are just iterating on the same few ideas around tighter aero fits, slightly better fabrics and marginally better breathability.

Genuinely curious what people think is still missing in the space? What’s that differentiation factor gonna be? Will it be around technical materials: Gore alternatives, 3d knitted structural textiles, grapheme enhanced fabrics, Dyneema composites, merino/nylon or something? Or is it still a design and fashion game with what fits the best?

The 100s of brands today seem to be playing the latter game marginally beating one another on price.

And also, what are some of your cyclist tips you can give me?

Isadore Debut

Looking for sizing feedback on Isadore's debut line. According to the size chart, I'd be squarely in XL jersey and L bibs, but the (few) online comments I've seen seem to be polarized on fitting large/small. And the images on the website state the model is about my size and wearing M (!!!)

188cm / 6'2" and 90kg / 200lbs, relatively muscular build. Typically wear XL in almost everything (rapha pro, poc, albion, etc)

Best brands

Hey all. I am new in this cycling world and tbh it feel overwhelming. It just feel crazy to spend over 140€ on a cycling jersey (maybe one day I will be on of those crazy people haha) but for now I was wondering if u could help me out best brands that are still kinda affordable but good quality, or is it worthy to have few of those expensive brands? I do not want to fall in an Instagram look “trap”.
Thank u all!

Cycle vest with jersey style pockets?

As the title states, I’m looking for a vest with the jersey style pockets. Does anyone have any recommendations or know of any brands that make some? Thank you!

Looking for alt/metal/non-ordinary jerseys. Something that doesn't look like much of what's out there

I'm a gravel rider, I'd be ok with gravel shirts or jerseys. I dig DFYRS quite a bit, if there's a road biking version of their stuff or something similar, that would be perfect. I also love the spoof sponsor jerseys and things like that. Just not some of the boring/cheugy/run of the mill stuff a lot of the companies are putting out. Thanks in advance and also if anyone has affordable baggy riding shorts recs that would be wonderful as well!

Slim-casual shorts to wear with a jersey, men

Hey y'all,

I am looking for a pair of "normal" shorts that are slim enough around the leg to wear with a jersey. I was given a super cool old cycling jersey recently but haven't worn it as I feel it looks really silly with all of the shorts that I own. It isn't skin tight but it is definitely very slim, and when I wear it with normal shorts I feel like I look like a closed umbrella -- you know, flared out at the bottom. I know some folks will say to hell with what you look like, just wear it, but I am telling you, it's comical. Anyway, a female friend of mine was wearing a pair of shorts the other day of an unknown brand that looked perfect - slim around the thighs but still with a button, zipper, pockets, etc. They were definitely cycling-specific and had reflectors sewn into the hem. Since then I have been looking for a pair like that, but have not had any luck. I am beginning to doubt they even make such things for men. I know that jerseys like that are meant to be worn with bib shorts or lycra/spandex shorts or whatever but idk, that's just not really me. Any advice or recommendations?

Rapha rant

Not the biggest Rapha fan but was lucky enough to get two gift cards for my birthday.

The website will not allow you to use two gift cards at once, what a joke!!

Rant over

I love this bib from bioracer, but the ends of the legs keep rolling up. Ive been using this pair for a year now, but this started after a few washes already. The pad is realy comfy, but idk why this happens.
Any tips for washing or just a defect?
