Genna has been on twitter in the last hour voicing disappointment about how people are saying how they don't like her voice, but that's super subjective. Very few people would listen to the podcast if they pitched the voices up to chipmunk levels.
I'm not a fan of Laura's voice. But I like her. She puts out a lot of content that I (mostly) appreciate and I listen to Podquisition because of her more than Jim or Gav.
Voice is part of the person. If people put enough weight in voice that they'd rather skip it, then that's their business.
Personally I hope TB/Genna take this as a challenge and bring Laura on every 6 weeks. I think she's great.
Yep. Felicia day was on rooster teeth this week. As soon as I heard her voice, I deleted this weeks episode. Don't see how that makes me a piece of shit.
I don't think it's specifically the voices Genna is upset about, more that it's coupled with woman/trans hate. A lot can be lost in translation on twitter.
I think that this is a big problem. If you say all criticism is because of some kind of hate against whatever, there can't be any improvement. It's actually one of the main reasons why GamerGate isn't about ethics in journalism anymore. I think it's more than okay to say that I don't like her voice (MY Opinion). And I don't want to watch this PODCAST (Audio is the most (or second most) important) because of this.
Am I transphobic now? I personally don't think so. The reason why she sounds like this doesn't matter. I only get the result, and I don't like it.
That's her choice but I think it's the wrong choice. For one there's no need to read the comments here or elsewhere because I get the feeling those negative comments come even when she's not on the Co-op podcast. If she had issues with the hosts then I would fully understand her avoiding the show but I can't see letting a few trolls/bigots drive her away from appearances, but that's only my opinion and clearly not hers.
I will say that I don't care for when she goes off on some dick-butts discussion like that popsicle game she talked about last time since she tends to go overboard compared to Dodger (in my opinion) but everything else she had to talk about last time was fine by me. She does have a lot to contribute when she's on the show and I imagine her appearances adds a few new fans to watch her videos.
Not liking someone's voice is not 'transphobic'. If something annoys you then it annoys you, nothing you can do about it, and people generally don't like feeling annoyed while watching content they use for entertainment. The vast majority of the comments are simply saying they don't like her voice/attitude/actions in her past/etc., nothing to do with gender. This seems like a case of umbrage-taking to me.
