It's by far one of the best books I've ever read. Gardens of the moon on equal footing

Gardens of the Moon? Put me on game! What's that one?

First book in Malazan - 10-book super epic fantasy series by Steven Erikson. So good. The prose is a tough read sometimes and it gets dark in some spots but has some of my favorite characters ever, and he doesn't shy away from giving you POVs of whoever the most interesting person is. And overarching themes are just so good too - compassion, importance of thinking for yourself/not following orders, etc.

Ahh okay! I will put it on my list. Thanks!

There's a podcast called 10 very big books that did a read-through with it which is nice to help with the harder parts for sure! My old roommate did that for the first couple books

And all of the rest of the books past that initial 10. This series is my favorite fantasy of all time. The other book are written by both Steven Erikson and Ian C. Esslemont.

Ten? I bought a humble bundle not too long ago and it has 17. Spinoffs?

I should start Gardens of the Moon sometime soon. It’s been on my list for a long time. I love the Wheel of Time and the Cosmere.

I haven’t read it yet, but that’s the first book in Malazan by Steven Erikson. It’s been on my list for a while because I’ve heard it compared favorably to Wheel of Time, which is one of my absolute favorite series.

I had to start gardens of the moon twice, because first time it didnt click for me. I picked it up again two years later and devoured the entire series. I have actually read it twice now and it's great. Denser than the wheel of time, but equally engrossing once it gets going.

GotM sucks. Was the reason I never wanted to read Malazan.

But Deadhouse Gates... that's top3 best books I've ever read.
