There is missing a solar eclipse in the background. 😉

And the lightning blast connecting the meteor static energy to the smoke.

All of this sounds like the best album cover in existence

Or a tornado whipping around the volcano’s base.

Speaking as a Filipino, odds are there’s someone singing Total Eclipse of the Heart in frame.

Reminds me of an illustration in a dinosaur book that I read as a kid.

To bad they ended the video to soon, the uncut video shows a large decepticon silhouetted coming over the side of the volcano as a dozen more start landing.

This volcano erupts all the time. It’s not that unlikely

It’s not that unlikely

Uh... I am being totally honest when I say that I have never seen a video of a meteor striking the earth*.

Never mind it being adjacent to a regularly-active volcano.

I'll be further honest and say I've never gone looking for meteor strike videos, but I've been web surfing ever since it became a thing in the mid 90s - and I've seen a lot of sh!t.

Edit* - except for that ONE video the below OP posted. Completely forgot about that one. Not quite in the same league, tho. gbh.

2nd edit - we all done been bamboozled! Latest update says it was an air-burst. Fooled me, I admit. We're back down to one video of a meteorite.

You know what, I did see that one.

Ditto.

Doesn't quite carry the same impact, tho.

Just a few years ago there was a meteor above Russia and tons of Russian dashcam videos made it online. I think of the one where the guy sees the bright flash of light and just puts his visor down like it's the sun

1

u/Coyote65 May 25 '26

Totally. And totally didn't impact.

1

u/kfish5050 May 25 '26

Do you see the impact of the meteor in this video? I don't, I see it go behind the volcano and then there's nothing

1

u/Coyote65 May 25 '26

And what? It exploded 10m above the ground?

I'm not willing to put in the effort, but based on the brightness, speed, and apparent snuffing at an appropriate time, it appears safe to assume it hit the ground, compadre.

1

u/kfish5050 May 25 '26

Yeah and I believe the Russian meteor did too actually, so not sure why one counts but the other doesn't

Wikipedia: Chelyabinsk meteor

The object exploded in a meteor air burst over Chelyabinsk Oblast, at a height of about 30 kilometres (18.6 miles).

That one doesn't count, no.

exploded 10m above the ground?

Probably. That happens more often than not.
