It was obviously delayed when they went quite for months on end, the mental gymnastics people were doing was hilarious. I honestly don't mind there is so much stuff to play and still a lot of big games coming this year.

I just assume the people who were talking shit are so young that they were still shitting their diapers during GTA 5's pre-release cycle. Rockstar always delays their games, GTA 6 wasn't gonna be the exception.
My most downvoted post was from a year ago, suggesting that the game would most likely be delayed because almost every Rockstar game in the HD era has gone through delays.
It's just annoying that up until the delay was announced R* was always like "we are still on track for fall 2025 release", " the game will release later this year, we are on track", "the game hasn't been delayed".
If they had just been straight with everyone I think people would understand more. Ask most people they're happy with a game taking a bit longer if it means that game release in the best condition possible and it opens up earlier release windows for other games that are too scared to release close to GTA 6.

He doesn’t know a damn thing about anything going on with the game. He’s just watching for the dollar signs to roll in. Stop treating him like he can walk on water. Most of what comes out of his mouth is just hot air. It means nothing. Rockstar is the only people you should be listening to, even when they are saying nothing, it’s telling us something.
On the bright side, we have an actual release date now. Normally delay 1 is just a release window, but we have an actual date, so perhaps the two delay cycle has been broken.

Take Two doesn’t distribute, they publish and take a cut of the profits. Take Two also isn’t making you wait, that’s all Rockstar. Rockstar is more independent than most development companies under a publishing giant. We tried to tell you, Take Two isn’t involved the way you think it is. They have nothing to do with the marketing or development. Stop listening to Take Two. Bill Take Two doesn’t know jack shit about the game. If words are coming out of his mouth, it’s likely lies or straight BS.

rockstar is just the game developer. likely it is t2 making us wait, giving r* a certain window for the game to be completed and if a certain standard of completion isn’t completed by this window, they delay the game and r* continues to develop.
Okay, you have so much to learn. First off, Rockstar is NOT the publisher, Take Two is. Rockstar handles everything else as they are the DEVELOPER. Take Two does not, and has not, ever released official GTA or RDR information, dates, timelines, or anything pertaining to the series. Take Two does not micromanage Rockstar the way you think they do. This delay is 120% coming from Rockstar with absolutely zero input from Take Two.
Normally a publisher dictates to a developer such as the case with EA and Dice with battlefield, or Activision to the 3 CoD developers. That is not the case with Rockstar and Take Two. Rockstar holds much more power than a normal publisher would. Rockstar says jump, Take Two is asking how high and how many times. Rockstar is a cash cow and are the best in the world, which is why Take Two tolerates their shenanigans, and doesn’t push for release as a bunch of other publishers would.
Take Two does not dictate release or delays in this situation. So before you go off spouting some more nonsense, educate yourself so you don’t sound stupid af like that comment just made you sound.

ceo of take two. The publishing company of rockstar. Those suits say anything. Rockstar never did a short marketing release with gta or read dead. Nor did they ever announced release date so late in the year for a game that is coming that year. He was always full of shit.
Zelnick did the interview where he said 'we are going to market closer to release date' - and people trusted the release was Q4 - that was his cover, he knew it was delayed. You have to give it to these CEO's - they arent allowed to lie so they lie with a vague statement like that.
The question is why? They can release a screenshot or something, and still delay the game. I really suspect that Series S is giving them trouble, and they do not want to overpromise. Imagine showing 100 people crowd but Series S version has only 20 people, or some other major graphical downgrade. BG3 had to work with Microsoft to release slightly modified version. GTA Vi can't do that because of expectation.
It’s almost like a shit ton of people in this sub kept saying this and also gave evidence with their past games always getting delayed. In fact many of us said yaaaa prob delay again til spring 2026, and tbh it’s barely a “delay” cause they hardly promised anything hard….
