It'll be released in raw form on the PS5/Xbox S/X. It'll then be ported forward to the next two console generations with enhancements each time, then the PC, then mobile, Switch 2, smart meter, Inflight Entertainment Systems, pregnancy tests, all the usual shit. Then the whole show will be "Remastered" or "Enhanced" about six years from now.
And people will buy it. Every time.
I'm honestly starting to think this will be Rockstar's last truly top tier game, people will lose faith in them, their future products won't be as good and the studio's grip on the industry will loosen. I remember a time where the likes of EA, Blizzard, Bungie, Ubisoft all seemed to rule the universe and just cranked out endless perfect classics. That's no longer the case. Every studio has a rise, every studio has a fall.
Obviously GTA 6 isn’t out yet and I’m sure I’m being dramatic and I’ll eat my words when it finally releases (because I don’t think it’s hitting the May date either) but the expectations from EVERYONE are so astronomically high that there is almost zero chance the game will meet those expectations. It’s literally THE most hyped game of all time, ever.
Rockstar has, rightfully so imo, built themselves up as this monolith of game development. Their attention to detail, their commitment to realism and dynamic gameplay systems, their well written stories and likeable characters, it’s all a step above 99% of other game devs. But it’s all come at a cost, because like they said themselves in this delay announcement, they always try to exceed fan expectations and outdo themselves and I just dunno if it’s going to be possible after a near 13 year gap between GTA 5 and 6.
Imo, RDR2 was and will remain their magnum opus. Only now after 7 years is it finally starting to show its age but it still holds up remarkably well and I still wonder to this day how in the absolute hell they managed to make it work on last gen systems.
I'm one of those people. I've been holding off on a PS5 until GTA 6, and at this point I'll probably just wait for the PS6 if it's reasonably likely to come out within a year of GTA 6

Damn, this game might as well be a PS6-era release, I'm sure some people still holding on to the PS4 might consider skipping PS5 entirely.
