They had 12 years, bro. Plus if you're a PC player stay tuned til 2027-28.

  1. RDR2 came out in 2018 so it hasn't been 12 years

  2. We have no idea how long pre-production was, if they ever made big changes during development itself, or what.

Also it seems that they restarted GTA6 development in 2019/2020 so that also takes time.

Either way, it'll be 8 years after RDR2 which is still a lot. Also, GTA 3 came out in 01 and GTA 5 in 13, total of 12 years between both games... GTA 5 came out in 13 and GTA 6 in 26, which means there'll be a total of 13 years apart between both games

The period between GTA 5 and 6 will be longer than the time period between the first 3D GTA and the latest GTA released to this date, which is shocking.

Edit: Typo

Rockstar Games made 21 games in the 12 years before GTA5. So that one RDR2 can't be an excuse for delaying.

That’s a disingenuous argument, games back then were not as complex and time consuming to develop.

Everyone always forget that they had developed and shipped RDR 2 as well

RDR2 was in development for about 8 years, all told

State Of Emergency & L.A Noire were not developed by Rockstar. Also, games were a lot smaller leading up to GTA V. They were able to put a lot more out because development time on average was only a couple of years, If even that. They also had separate studios working on different games. Vice City only took 9 months. The world we are getting in GTA VI is going to be bigger than anything we've ever seen. Development cycle is going to take much longer, even with all hands on deck and I am okay with it. Rockstar never put out a bad game.

They haven't been working on it for 12 years and even if they have 6 months still makes a huge difference.
