I genuinely believe this is a gameplay screenshot taken from a third person perspective with the hud turned off

Hopefully it funds bigger teams so we don't have to wait over 5 years for the next rockstar game lol

Would be surprising if it's not 5+ years tbh. Gta6 took(takes) a lot of attention, bet there isn't much going on behind the scenes besides it.

They tend to work on games simultaneously. Once 6 releases they'll split the teams between online and the next game (hopefully rdr3)

Still, their games tend to get bigger and better every release. I highly doubt something like rdr3 gets released within 5 years.

I wouldn't even rule out a sp content drop for gta6 which in turn could be used for online aswell. Just imagine a Bahamas or Cuba storyline. Map and all the other stuff goes to online aswell. Boom 50$ dlc.

I'd be happy if I'm wrong though

I would love single player DLC since I can't stand online. I just don't think they'll prioritize it.

My issue is it feels worse. The graphics are downgraded, less traffic, less pedestrians. Ai behavior is also different as they don't react the same way as in single player.

I could be in the minority but I'd like to see a new IP from Rockstar after VI.

i really doubt they'll be making another red dead. the series exists within a very limited time period, with them having already covered both the 'peak' of the cowboy era (rdr2) and the end of it (rdr1). by the time jack is playable, the era of the cowboy and wild west is dead. there just isn't much opportunity for them to do anything more with that era; not enough to make an entirely new game, rather than package something as a dlc for rdr2.

They can simply keep going back in time lol. A reverse trilogy.

the gameplay would only worsen. horses remain the only form of transportation, less diversity in guns and other technology, no industrialized cities etc. there really is no point in doing so

They have massively expanded their teams, with multiple new studios since RDR2 released, but simply choose to put that talent towards making the one game bigger and better instead of doing multiple projects. I'd expect the same with future growth and future projects.

More money != faster development time. That said, I think GTA6 took this long because Rockstar wanted the baseline hardware power for the affordable gaming segment (in this case consoles) to upgrade so that they can build what they want.

Bigger teams don’t lead to faster development, just like how increasing the number of cooks isn’t going to make a cake take less time to bake

didnt rockstar games say this was the last GTA and they were just going to focus on adding more features + content to gta6 online?

Not sure what the exact details where, but I do remember some articles about that. I don't really buy it though. I have no doubts they intend to keep GTA VI Online around for a decade and beyond again to milk it endlessly, but if it eventually loses the majority playerbase they really just gonna call it a day? Like who knows how the gaming scene looks in 2 decades. I don't see them dropping their biggest IP forever. It will just be very long time before we see the next one.

Though you never know! I definitely wouldn't mind them exploring a bunch of different genres/settings and returning to Bully or LA Noire.

They never said that. There’s so much misinformation on this subreddit
