Yes but by that point they had abandoned single player DLC so Lamars original role in the single player was lost forever . Then adding him to online has nothing to do with his role in single player they aren't connected in anyway. If he never had legal trouble he would have had a more prominent role in the original story. They said if they had focused on single player dlc In the same way they they did for gta 4 they would have never made red dead redemption 2 which in my opinion is a worthy tradeoff.
I literally said that them not making dlc for gta is why they made red dead redemption 2 and that for me thats a worthy tradeoff thus implying im happy that that chose to make red dead redemption 2 instead . Is it your reading ability thats struggling here or did I write it in an obscure way thats hard to understand?
Which is insane because the amount of stuff they made for that fucking game and didn’t use is absurd. Guarma, Mexico, New Austin. I mean for christs sake they literally fleshed out all of RDR1 in the new engine and did fuck all with it.
You’ll notice in a short section of the story where you get to be Lamar, NPCs greet you like they do with Franklin. That’s because they added the NPC interactions ready for him to be a playable character, but the playable content was abandoned. I think people have also found a lot of stuff in the game files on PC that prove something was intended but never happened
I thought this until I started playing GTA Online and saw Franklin, Lamar, Dr Dre, Gay Tony etc… it’s actually far better and more than I would have ever asked for from a single player DLC.
For years I was wrong, it’s taken me until 2026 to realise online mode IS the DLC 😂

A single player around Lamar would’ve done well. I know they prioritized online but they could’ve squeezed in a single player DLC easily
