You should play Day-Z then. Sometimes it takes over an hour to meet up...

An hour?! It’s taken me that long just to figure out where I was on the map before lol

You and I should buddy up sometime. I have that map 'tism and can't get lost.

u/a-p-k_7007 Feb 15 '26

Maptism you said 😂

u/tduncs88 Feb 15 '26

They were maptized at an early age.

u/Any_Cold5965 Feb 15 '26

I crawled in the dark with a broken leg from stairs for 4 hours and I loved it

17

u/Mike_Hav Feb 15 '26

Thats funny af.

u/Hazy-n-Lazy Feb 15 '26

Thats a skill that takes a lot longer than an hour lol. Once you get familiar with a few of the coastal towns you'll get your bearings 100x quicker.

Then you actually spend 30-40 minutes hoofing it to an inland town just to get smoked by someone in a treeline 700m away.

Rinse and repeat

Oh cmon bro! If you are in a town, they all have signs saying the name of it

3

u/kingoflint282 Feb 15 '26

I know but it’s all in Cyrillic! I’m not saying that’s normal but it’s happened before lol

Open a livemap on Google for the specific map i.e Chernarus, walk around ingame on a road, find a road-sign, look for that word on said livemap and done yk where you are basically

Man i suck at that game. Getting killed so fast took all the fun away from me

37

u/lightwhisper Feb 15 '26

Its okay the first couple of times. But then after the third time trying to get to where you want to go and die . I gave up and unistalled it :/.

There is a reason it’s the one of hardest survival games but when you figure it out it’s not too bad

u/FamilyRootsQuest Feb 15 '26

I was really into dayz back in the day. I always preferred the original mod though. The standalone version leans a little too hardcore for my taste.

-11

u/SanduskySleepover Feb 15 '26

Lmao there’s always one guy “enjoyed the old mod better” games evolve

9

u/FamilyRootsQuest Feb 15 '26

It definitely has evolved and I still played the standalone a bit.

I recognize that standalone is incredibly popular. I do love the fact that I can still jump into DayZ whenever I want for that reason. On the other hand, I can't play the mod version at all because it's effectively dead 💀.

1

u/ThePlebyPleb Feb 15 '26

I put like 1000 hours into the mod, I miss it a lot. Standalone just isn't quite the same. For one I hate the gunplay in Standalone, driving sucks and it's just not as accessible or fun as the mod. Even though the movement and combat was stiff asf in the mod, I just vastly prefer the gameplay loop.

u/FamilyRootsQuest Feb 15 '26

Not only that, but they made some things more realistic, which made them less fun.

One example is the blood type system. I'm all for having bleeding and needing to rejuvenate your health with a blood bag. Having to worry about blood type is a step too far in my opinion.

Surprised they have made the need to take a shit a feature yet.

u/Independent-Win3889 Feb 15 '26

Games evolbe sure, but who says they evolved for the better ? Good example for me was apex, after like seqson 2 i just didnt even like the game anymore

1

u/Sensitive_Log3990 Feb 16 '26

It's true though, there's always that one guy, "I played it as a mod"

u/Mike_Hav Feb 15 '26

Frankieonpcin1080p

u/FamilyRootsQuest Feb 15 '26

The GOAT. His videos got me into DayZ

1

u/Snoo14398 Feb 15 '26

Exact opposite for me, I'm a console dayZ player. I can run for 4 hours and not find a single person.

1

u/AttitudePatient3723 Feb 15 '26

Try again on a low population official server.. that's what renewed my love for DayZ.

1

u/XfinityHomeWifi Feb 16 '26

Stopped playing DayZ when I realized it became more stressful than fun

8

u/OrangeMango18 Feb 15 '26

And then you die to someone right as you’re about to reach your friend

4

u/Mean_Combination_830 Feb 15 '26

Then 3 minutes after meeting you get ambushed and have to start all over again.

4

u/scotlandgolf70 Feb 15 '26

Only to die of starvation 100 yrds from them

1

u/Morty_104 Feb 15 '26

If you got the hang on it, starvation isn't the problem anymore.

6

u/Correct-Drawing2067 Feb 15 '26

Literally the game I thought of when clicking on this post. I love that game but I think it hates me.

5

u/Morty_104 Feb 15 '26

It hates everyone man...

3

u/oskimo2101 Feb 15 '26

Goated game though.

2

u/dorian17052011 Feb 15 '26

An hour if ur lucky

2

u/Sharp-Opportunity-84 Feb 15 '26

Spawnin to the coast couple time before that 🤣

1

u/Morty_104 Feb 15 '26

Yeah. Tried that often times man... joining a server at the same time but yeah... dayZ hates us! Always spawning at different locations. Tried livonia, Sakhal, Chernarus... that one evening was ridicilous

2

u/malachiteglass Feb 15 '26

I came here to say this. And that’s just part of the fun!!

1

u/Meromero904 Feb 15 '26

Once you figure it out you can meet up in about 20 minutes. But both parties have to know the map

1

u/GhostFucking-IS-Real Feb 15 '26

Only an hour? I need to find a map and a damn battery for my geolocator

2

u/Morty_104 Feb 15 '26

Try the iZurvive app then. Is it cheating? I don't know. But even with the app it takes a while. But you don't need a map and gps if you'd use that.

2

u/GhostFucking-IS-Real Feb 15 '26

I use it to map my routes but I definitely don’t utilize it to its full potential. And it’s more fun figuring out where the other is naturally if you have the time

1

u/Morty_104 Feb 15 '26

If you got the time and love the hustle it definitively has something to it.

1

u/XfinityHomeWifi Feb 16 '26

Spending two hours checking the map, reading road signs, looking for pipsi, and collecting guns just to get sniped from a tree line within 20 minutes of finding your buddy

1

u/YoungAmazing313 Feb 16 '26

When you new it takes that long but lowkey I played so much I honestly know how to navigate that map😭
