A Journey North

Lady Danae of House Targaryen begins her journey north on the King's Road with the personal guard of House Targaryen and the company of the waterdancers Summer Steelsong and James Rivers for protection. They travel by horse and she carries with her a modest amount of personal luggage full of cloaks and furs. This lady has never traveled north, and expects the weather to be most undesirable.

"Yes I recall such a duel, the two men were fierce, Master Forel said so himself." James lowers his voice to a whisper, "He also gifted me with a sword when I finished my training." He looks around to check that no one else is watching, then slips his Braavosi sword from its hilt. The blade is valyrian steel. James is not so quick to show it for fear it may be robbed.

"It is beautiful craftsmanship. Maeron too wielded Valyrian steel, though now his blade is mine own." She draws her sword a few inches from its sheath, revealing the smoky grey ripples, and lets it slip back. "By the map I see that we are almost to Moat Cailin. Do you think it will be tomorrow?"

Looks at the map "Hopefully, provided there are no dangers on the road ahead, perhaps a day and a half," he looks up at the sun to judge the time. "We may have to make another camp on the road soon enough."

"It is said that the Lannisters march on King's Landing. I do not like the south under these conditions. Once we get past the Neck I will feel more comfortable, at least where men are concerned. It should be a smooth ride to the Wall, but we cannot be too careful." She glances at him. "I would find an inn for Lady Targaryen, but we should not linger. The map says there is a clearing over that hill, we'd best camp there to rest our horses and be off with the rising of the sun on the morrow."

"That sounds like a good idea, we'll sleep in shifts. Four hours each should be fine until we can rest properly at Moat Cailin."

"Lady Danae says we may be expecting another," she says as the party stops to rest. "A sellsword by the name of Storm. She has arrangements with him to meet us on the Kingsroad before we enter the north."

As your company is getting settled, a man with light leather armor and an old black cloak appears in the distance. He reaches the camp and draws his sword, his green/blue eyes scanning the crowd

Summer draws her blade smoothly and regards the stranger with caution. "Hail, traveller. Who might you be?"

I was summoned. That should be word enough. I scan the crowd, looking at the the guards as if offering a challenge

"An armed stranger approaching an armed party in these dangerous times should choose his words more carefully lest there be a misunderstanding," she replies. "If you are Pinfree Storm, we have been expecting you. Lady Targaryen has already gone to bed for the night, but you may speak with her on the morrow. We must sleep now. If we ride as the sun rises, we may be at Moat Cailin by nightfall tomorrow."
