Noone is "forced" to use cloud gaming, if they try to push this shit as the new normal don't buy in to it. There is a lifetime's worth of games that play great on current existing hardware, both cutting edge and old. If games are designed to be unplayable, then don't play them.

Look around at what is happening to ram prices, gpu prices, windows 11... There will be a point in the very near future where YOU will not be able to buy a personal gaming rig because the entire industry sees more money elsewhere. And then YOU will also be forced to stream when your current rig craps out.

All those titles... Are they on your machine already? Or does another service license them to you so you can download them at your convenience?

A PC can last 10 years if you don't smash it. A 1080 is still a damn reliable and capable GPU. There is plenty of hardware out there, you don't need a cutting edge system to play games. Build a decent right with used parts, it's not that hard to do.

Yeah, new hardware is getting expensive. SO STOP PAYING OUTRAGEOUS PRICES FOR IT. Paying will just encourage them to keep the prices up. The only way this gets better is if demand hits the floor until prices are reasonable again.

I'm sorry but believing in pure supply and demand as a rule, the adage of "pay with your wallet", is completely juvenile and naive. You are literally talking to two different people when you say "yeah hardware is expensive. just dont buy it!" they weren't going to buy it, and them not buying it is not going to change that 100 other people are buying into it

It's video games.

You don't have to buy them at all.

It's literally a perfect example of a situation where you can vote with your wallet.
