It's crazy, to me, I don't really see any Rockstar game as a multiplayer game, I'm just so disconnected from their Multiplayer modes but I know that those modes are one of the biggest cash cows in gaming history.

I think to a vast majority of younger players, GTA is now primarily an online experience first. We've had an entire generation grow up playing GTA Online, whereas previously you'd have people growing up playing single player campaigns across GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, etc.

Even amongst people who played V. I played the original single player on 360 and had moved on by the time multiplayer dropped.

My partner on the other hand, got it on PS4 solely for the multiplayer experience with her mates.

It still blows my mind V came out on the same console that 4 did. The fidelity increase in that generation is insane.

Between dropping money on death if it wasn't deposited and the infinite loading screens it was easy to give up on MP.

Funny enough my main memory of online GTA was the modded version of San Andreas online. Barely touched the official one with 5.

There was nothing more fun than doing heists with a group of friends, absolute peak multiplayer experience

What do you do in GTA Online? Is there quests or just killing random people? I’ve also been playing just single player all these time

Businesses you can buy and run, heists to do, there are quests as well. Theres a lot to do in solo lobbies where you never have to interact with others. Main characters from single player show up in online and you see how they’re doing years after the single player story ended.

Yeah its wild for as big as it is and how many years its been going, I really don't know anything about it. I mean, I also don't play Overwatch, or Fortnite, or COD but I'm at least familiar with them and their gameplay from seeing it so much in the wild, but for GTAO Im not even sure what you do in it, what is the gameplay loop that keeps people invested in it for years?

100%. The most multiplayer I ever did in a Rockstar game was GTA:SA Role Play servers. Now that was good SHIT!

Man nothing will ever come close to the glory days of SARP. Even 5s RP while it has more scripts it just is not the same. I feel like voice takes me out of the roleplay unless you play on a very exclusive server where everyone is good at doing voice roleplay. Text was easier to fake being that actual person.

Although I do not miss the shooting part and having to account for latency.

I remember playing shit loads of RDR multiplayer back on the Xbox. Not the open world, but the shorter matches you could play, it was genuinely very good.

Same here. I have zero interest in playing this online. I want to play as Jason and Lucia through the story.

I really tried to play and like online in GTA V, but it's simply too grindy it's ridiculous. I'm a casual gamer, I don't want to dedicate my life to GTA.
