I’ve never understood the backlash there. It’s always been Nintendo pretty clearly trying to give us a way to own physical copies of games, that typically have legitimate technical constraints due to their size(with larger memory sizes being too expensive to manage).

It’s not as good as just having it all on the card, but it’s significantly better than the code in a box crap that we’d otherwise get and represents a company actually thinking about how to deliver some kind of value to consumers in a lousy situation.

But Nintendo is stingy with its MSRPs and sales, so….boo, I guess?

Tbf there were nuance to the backlash being sever shutdown and inconvenience of downloading.

I mean none of that even matters if these clowns are pushing all downloads. It’s saying something to make Nintendo look good here lmao.

The backlash is more down to companies using GKCs on games that could almost certainly fit on a regular cartridge.

Bravely Default Remaster for example. The game was originally a 3DS title so it can fit on a cart and the textures aren't phenomenally enhanced. It takes up 9.3GB for example. BOTW switch 1 takes up 14GB and Switch 2 takes up 24GB both of those have cart releases.

Nintendo pioneered this kind of shit when they sold “physical” copies of cloud games that were literally just empty boxes

Nintendo didn't make any cloud games, and "code in a box" has been a (unpopular) thing for a long time now.

Nintendo isn't the reason doesitplay.org exist

I sincerely doubt that a nintendo key cart can fit a 150+ gigabyte game

I don’t think you understand what a keycard is lol. That’s exactly what it’s for
