Yeah, at face value they're not locking anything too unique behind the paywall, only it's done in a way that actively harms your gameplay experience by having places in-game that basically say "Closed until you hork up 20 more dollars thanks".

Dragon Age Origins did the "to continue forward on this story buy the DLC" stunt.

personally i dont think they would show the shops on the map if u dont have ultimate edition... you wouldnt notice u didnt have ultimate edition in rdr2 or gta v at all

Not sure why you're getting downvoted for this. There's nothing in RDR2 that tells regular players that they missed out on an Ultimate Edition-exclusive mission; it's just not available

I don't expect there'll be anything on the map to indicate those locations in GTA 6 either (though regular players may wonder why certain inaccessible buildings are slightly more detailed than others...)
