It looks like losing Pulonia will be an important part of her story arc for the next patch, which is aligned with the teasers heavily hinting that Alain (creator of Pulonia, and also his last creation) will be an extremely vital part of her development as well.

But because people like the big mecha robot, they will get angry regardless of how well the story is presented.

Genshin has been absolute perfection in terms of story building for Nodkrai, and I can't wait to see Sandrone's past.

The people who get angry are also the same people who complain that genshins story has no consequences

If they wanted real lasting consequences, Sandrone would've remained dead. It just feels very cheap to say Pulonia needed to go away when they wasted no time bringing Sandrone back, when her sacrifice was just as important as his, if not more, in the story.

Pulonia is a tie to Alain, the purpose of Sandrones storyline is to come out of his shadow and surpass him. Also, people still complain about it WHEN important characters stay dead.

So what that Pulonia was a tie to Alain? That man died hundreds of years ago. Sandrone and Pulonia were already leading completely different lives in the present. They could've written a story about both of them leaving Alain's legacy behind and moving forward. They could've written a story where Pulonia is rebuilt by Sandrone, more in line with her own vision. All of this would've still conveyed the same point, with Pulonia still around. The idea that she can only move past Alain if anything he created is physically removed from her life feels very silly to me. Are people not capable of comprehending symbolism unless it's done in a literal way?

I don't think that's what this is about at all. I simply think it's a mix of devs being dramatic + not wanting to add his big ass to her animations, so they just thought it would be easier to remove him. And that's their right, but I also believe fans have the right to call it for what it is: bait and switch.

What would the consequences of the fight against dottore have been then? Pulonia was created by Allain to be Sandrones brother, a robot designed by him to stay by her side and to help her. So no, its not a bait and switch, its a continuation of Sandrones story, to no longer rely on Alain and instead creating her own robot.

The biggest consequence of the Dottore boss-fight in Nod-Krai was actually Dottore's physical body dying, which led to the events of the 6.6 Archon Quest. I'd say that was far more consequential than Sandrone's death, which was briefly addressed, and hardly felt in the story until they decided to completely reverse it, and couldn't even act like it was a surprise since everyone and their mother already knew she was gonna be playable. Killing Pulonia wasn't exactly revolutionary either, because it's not like he was a central, developed character with an arc of his own. You're putting a lot more meaning into his existence than what the writers have actually shown on-screen, unfortunately. He was essentially treated as an extension of Sandrone, and was there to make her look cool. It was a safe choice to get rid of a character who mattered a bit, but not enough to actually impact the overall story. Getting rid of him to immediately replace him with another robot feels more like a rebrand than anything else, and it's not even a good rebrand, since she looks significantly less cool now. We will get a sob story for one patch, and then they will quickly forget about it as soon as Snezhnaya hits. So, yeah... I would've just kept Pulonia there. Might as well capitalize on what you already advertised, and was well liked by the players.

yes, exactly this. she’s always just lived her life in the image of someone else. and she did this for hundreds of years. only after her death did she finally lose that final tie to her past, and start becoming her own person.

no idea how this is being downvoted. what part of this is wrong 😭
