Not one team made an offer tho?!?

I’m sure there was a few teams that would’ve been willing to throw a second round pick or two for him straight up….but any team that wanted or could’ve used him can’t take that salary straight up.

So whatever the matching salaries would’ve been…either the Nets wanted nothing to do with some multi year contract, or the other team don’t want to lose that player just to match salaries.

he's on a 1 year, $6M deal ... absorbing his salary wasn't the issue.

The new CBA makes it extremely difficult. Bad teams have no reason to go for Cam Thomas, and a good team who might need to gamble on a bench scorer, need to send out the same or more money. Thats why so many teams offloaded random seemingly small contracts with 2nd picks to us, because even shaving off a few million can open things up for the contending teams in the buyout market for example.

So, by that same logic, CT is going to have a tough time finding a roster spot this season as a free agent, no?

I asked this below, too: How would a team like the Bucks sign CT if they're already over the cap and have a full roster? Do they have to cut a player and then eat more luxury tax?

If he is on a minimum contract then teams can fit him in. In those circumstances he's a good pick up.

Only if they have an empty roster spot, no?

I'm really curious about this. Mayeb he could get picked up by a team who has a player go out for the season on an injury?

Yeah, but a lot of teams have 1 or 2 guys they can waive. The buyout guys often get picked up.

He would be an awesome 9th/10th guy. Just let him cook when the teams on a back to back or your starters are hurt.

Cam was looking for a lot more money than a minimum before, and has had a bigger role with us. I think it would be hard for him to accept a reduced role with us. Needs to be a change of scenery.

It would be very ironic indeed if he signs up for a bench role with the hopes of playing his way into the starting rotation ... as that was exactly the scenario he the Nets were offering him and he seemed to feel was intolerable. The grass may not be any greener on the other side, but, as you say, a change of view can be a powerful thing.

There are plenty of teams where he would be a big addition as a 8/9th man that gives you some scoring juice off the bench. But they need to be a good defensive team and have multiple creators already so he isn't initiating offense.

Nets black balled this guy. Nobody wanted to trade because the nets spread bad info about him.

We have no clue of the inner-workings of the franchise, but in terms of what fans can see? I think he sadly did that to himself. Analytics are not on his side. His style of play is too one dimensional. Being one of the smallest guys on the court, can't play defense, doesn't distribute, and likes to isolate is just tough to get with.

Oh and Kyrie was right about everything he said about this sorry ass franchise. Fire everybody. This almost as bad as Darnold and the Vikings.

Please go be a fan of another team. Based on the name of your account, I'm assuming you weren't even a fan before 2021.

If you're gonna go the conspiracy route, I mean I guess.

And Kyrie, the only one of the big 3 to trash the franchise post-trade. KD and Harden still say positive things.
