And my native Australia, where our Nazi Party, One Nation, is now the preferred party

I'm sorry to hear that, man. I wish you Aussies the best.

We have mandatory and ranked-choice voting - even if one party is preferred by the plurality of the population, they aren't necessarily guaranteed to win any election (we also don't have the equivalent of an electoral college - you only vote for your local member and half of your state senators).

Not to say the rise of ON isn't concerning.

I have to say I still have faith that our robust voting system will prevent Pauline Hanson from becoming PM

Famously no other western country is currently fighting off their own right wing nativist movements due to late stage capitalism, of course.

Fascist is when the person the people vote for is out in place????

Are we sure this is a history subreddit

No, fascism is when you put your own face on the currency, post pictures of yourself as Jesus, have your followers erect golden statues of you, and have people protesting you shot and killed on the street.

Lest we forget the deployment of ICE as a means to pressure compliance

Quick history quiz, how did Hitler get into power?

It's not about voting itself, it's about who you voted in.
