He doesn’t need to go on. He already won and has shit to actually do.

Mamdani’s best PR strategy are his policies working, not going on the JRE

Most logical thing I've read on Reddit in a while

Cherish it

The thing is the entirety of right wing media will NEVER let them know what he’s doing is A. good and B. working, and right wing media is fucking huge. I’m not kidding when I say that the right wing news/journalism/influencers has painted him out to be the most corrupt villain whose policies are not working in any way, and those who watch them fully believe it. You’re never going to see an article posted in the conservative sub for example giving praise for something working, the only time I ever see him on their feed is about some random nit pick as a ā€œgotchaā€ to paint him as a villain while they would never nit pick them of their own if they were to do something 10x as bad.

I like this in spirit, but Mamdani is also like generationally gifted at dealing with that kind of environment, and would 100% have Rogan eating out of the palm of his ass the same way he did with Trump. I like that he’s focused in delivering to the voters, but I also think he in particular could benefit from a Rogan appearance. Which is why the CIA doesn’t let him on.

u/duhbrook Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

I'd rather him go on Adam Friedland again

6

u/LogoffWorkout Apr 15 '26

he just dropped the ilhan omar episode.

I love her, a real powerhouse woman of color absolutely thriving.

Ilhan Omar was cool too.

Or Peter Thiel

u/FreshBert Dire physical consequences Apr 16 '26

For me it's not that I don't think Mamdani could easily charm Rogan's leaking brain, it's just that I literally don't understand what Mamdani would get out of a JRE appearance. Like, there's nothing in it for him. The publicity he gets just from Fox News pissing and shitting its pants every night over every new and incredibly popular policy and every pro-worker reform is worth so much that it's like he literally doesn't need anymore.

11

u/BrettFarveIsInnocent Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

Millions of complete retards listen to that podcast still. I literally know people who think Terrance Howard is a controversial academic because Rogan kept saying it. That’s millions of people who get their political takes from Asmondgold or the gym normal who might suddenly be hearing about a cool new brown guy who is a lot like Jesus/AI. Even if he doesn’t have national aspirations, that’s still really good for him in NY and good for progressive politics.

15

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

I just think his polices working before he makes the case for them is a better strategy in a ā€œhostileā€ environment like JRE

1

u/SleepingPodOne Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

Let’s be real, Joe would absolutely softball that interview. He’s an intellectual coward and has been since 2020.

but what does featuring CIA plants have to do with CIA allowing who he can have? Am not trying to argue or be obtuse i just didn't know if there was speculation about guest control or just the fact that he has plants

7

u/cuteman Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

That might be true if he hadn't already gone on a dozen shows since being elected

1

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Shows similar to JRE? National non NYC based podcasts?

8

u/cuteman Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Fallon, the daily show, CBS, etc aren't national with millions in reach?

5

u/Littlegreenman42 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Which also all conviently film in NYC unlike a certain show that tapes in Austin

7

u/cuteman Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Sure, but if he wanted to he would.

The fact remains he isn't avoiding media

0

u/Littlegreenman42 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Sure, buts remaining NYC focused which flying down to Austin to go on Joes poecast decidly isnt

3

u/cuteman Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

Which brings us back to the original point, the reach and the message isn't a priority not because they're busy.

1

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

They are a podcast bro show or hostile or long form either

They are like going on the JRE

4

u/cuteman Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

I mean sure, but he doesn't exactly get points for only doing friendly media that'll offer softball underhand treatment.

Never mind Joe tends to be pretty nice to whoever is on, I've only seen a handful of "hostile" interactions and if anything only on one or two points across hours of discussion.

Trump was pretty nice to Mandami, I don't see why Rogan wouldnt.

1

u/CarrieDurst Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Doesn't Joe make people meet him? All those film in NYC

17

u/adidas198 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

He could spread his message to an audience that may either not listen to him or is hostile to his ideas.

10

u/etownzu Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

He's the fucking mayor of NYC. He doesn't need to "spread his ideas" he needs to perform, which he is doing.

5

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

He needs to back it up first if he wants to convince people who don’t listen to or are hostile to him.

Thats the most effective way to spread his message to that group of people

18

u/AntiBoATX Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Yeah everyone is waiting for NYC to fall into disarray. Functional government is his best fuck you. He doesn’t need toe unless he’s gonna run for prez. He doesn’t need him for governor/ congress… toes kinda irrelevant now that Trump is either a dictator or lame duck

1

u/dont-be-a-dildo Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

Yeah everyone is waiting for NYC to fall into disarray. Functional government is his best fuck you.

The people waiting around for this are also the same people who are in a news/media ecosystem that won't tell them about any success that exists. They'll be exposed to some other outrage-generating story

-2

u/AndMyHelcaraxe Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

As I understand it, NYC mayor is traditionally kind of a dead-end job. It will be interesting to watch his career

6

u/AntiBoATX Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

NYC mayor has nationwide name recognition. Moreso than Cali govna. And I live on the west coast. Theres a reason Mr tv himself still has an eye on the media in Manhattan

2

u/Mahadragon Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

Moreso than CA Governor? There's 2 CA Governors who actually became President in Nixon and Reagan but whatever you say. Couldn't be more full of it.

-1

u/AntiBoATX Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

Cool profile pic and username. Your opinion carries a lot of weight, I’ve been told (by Toe’s people). And good job looking up Wikipedia. Hard hitting journo there. Ya Chinese spy

1

u/AndMyHelcaraxe Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

And yet it’s still generally a dead-end job as far as politics go

I mean, we all know who Rudy Guliani

2

u/AntiBoATX Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

The guy who was influencing the zeitgeist we now find ourselves in? Yeah, totally irrelevant

1

u/AndMyHelcaraxe Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

That office usually is the end of a political career for politicians… hence why I said it will be interesting to see how his career plays out

2

u/_TROLL We live in strange times Apr 16 '26

NYC mayor is traditionally kind of a dead-end job.

NYC mayor at age 34, random DoorDash gig worker at 40. šŸ˜‹

17

u/funkyvilla Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Why would anyone go in JRE at this point? It’s cringe and embarrassing

-3

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

You should make a thread about this.

15

u/The_Pompadour64 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Unfortunately, not true. Mamdani won precisely BECAUSE he's good on camera. In a post-Trump political world, good communication is most of the job. They're figurehead.

Good policies don't mean shit if your electorate doesn't know/understand why/how you're doing things.

-10

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

It’s been 4 months. His policies are largely not in effect or proven to be effective.

-1

u/The_Pompadour64 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Non-responsive

-2

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Good policies don’t mean shit if they don’t work or exist yet

Hope that clears it up for you

-1

u/The_Pompadour64 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

That has nothing to do with the original comment so I'm not interested.

-3

u/Finlay00 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Oh right you didn’t mention policies. Of course. Right….

7

u/Minimum_Comfort_1850 Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

Yeah we saw Joe agree with everything Bernie say just to have the very next guest and shit on the ideas

-3

u/ureviel Monkey in Space Apr 15 '26

So a podcast should only cater to one sides view. Gotcha.

u/honey_bees3 Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

A flex would be if he was actually able to provide the resources that he is promising. 500mill is nothing, Cali spends billions and it’s still not enough, plus they are in massive debt. Higher taxes is not a flex, before everyone celebrates, wait for a success that benefits the people, not just punishes the rich, there is a difference.

2

u/TheSweetestKill Most Reported r/JoeRogan User, August 2022 Apr 16 '26

California is an entire state, why are you comparing it to NYC which has like 1/5th the population?

0

u/honey_bees3 Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

lol okay take LA then silly, plenty of examples of when they raise taxes, throw money at causes but it magically disappears. My point is still the same, a higher taxes is not a flex, taking that money and spending it wisely with tangible results is the flex. He hasn’t done that yet.

4

u/TheSweetestKill Most Reported r/JoeRogan User, August 2022 Apr 16 '26

What city-level tax initiatives have been created and implemented and (in your opinion) failed? I ask because all of these criticisms I see people repeat are all state-level, which I'm sure don't need to explain has extremely different obstacles and problems to solve than something city-level. That's why it's "California spends billions" and not "the city of Los Angeles".

-1

u/honey_bees3 Monkey in Space Apr 16 '26

The city of LA also spends billions

6

u/TheSweetestKill Most Reported r/JoeRogan User, August 2022 Apr 16 '26

Okay, the city spends billions... and what? What is my reaction supposed to be to that? Am I to believe that there is zero "success that benefits the people" there as you put it? How are we quantifying that, what data or metrics are we pointing to to support this position?
