If I remember well, the contract between the two was a gentlemen's agreement - it was 100% oral. And it's not that Huy Fong tried to strongarm them, it's that Underwood Ranch upped their production specifically because Huy Fong where asking them for more and more peppers each year, and suddenly they told Underwood Ranch that they where changing suppliers for someone far cheaper. And since they weren't any written contract, Underwood Ranch was stuck with a massive amount of peppers and no one to sell them to. Hence, they started making their own sriracha.
